Brake discs & pads

Hi all,

I am changing the front and rear rotors and pads for my 2007 Z4 3.0si but with so many choices available on RockAuto, I have no idea which to buy. There are quite a few rotor/pad kits so any advice would be very helpful.

Can you help?

Thanks

First need to know applications before anything. That limits what category you look at on rock auto or anywhere. Check fcpeuro too. Economic, daily, spirited, track as well as wants, low noise, low dust, don’t care that kinda stuff.

Just for weekend use. Want good braking power, smooth, quiet, low dust if possible.

Bonjour Hi!

Try this place in Toronto
They're having a big sale on OEM Brembo rotors and Bosch pads for your model

https://germanparts.ca/index.html

I got a complete set of rotors, pads and brake sensors for my E85 M Roadster for less than you could buy them south of the border, with exchange, duties and brokerage fees. I asked them for discount code before I submitted the order and they threw in a %10 discount.

Zimmerman rotors and Bosch pads.

Looks like you have a good Canadian tip above on purchase. Am in Midwest US and drive the same as you...and went with Akebono pads simply for stopping power, and low dust...went from a 8-10 level down to 2. I dislike cleaning them one day and a small back road trip or a couple days later in town, and they look horrid. Went with new discs as well. Love these brake pucks.

I have a M with floating rotors, different. I did have a 3.0si for six years and suggest the following:

The Brembo rotors and Bosch ceramic pads on all 4 corners. Don't forget to change the brake wear sensors.

When I start price comparisons I start with these guys. Even with exchange rate fcp is cheaper on Zimmerman and lifetime warranty on a lot of their stuff including brakes. If you want to take them up on it send in used rotors and pads. Haven’t gotten brakes from them yet and have bbk on my e85 but had other warranty issues and it’s always been no questions asked, even after I pitched the broken part not sending it in to them I received new.

I have two choices:

- Brembo rotors with Bosch Ceramic QuietCast
- Zimmerman rotors with Akabeno Ultra Premium Ceramic

Which would you choose?

Also, I have to replace both front lower control arms and the rear shock plates. Any names I should be looking for?

Lastly, my mechanic says I need three muffler supports. What are these?

Thanks
