Just got back from getting my mounts installed. My shop is about 40 minutes away so I got a decent feel for them.

This mod gets 5 out of 5 stars for me. Zero increase in NVH that I can tell, and makes a noticeable difference. When you push the go pedal the car reacts immediately, I'm able to light up the DSC like a christmas light.

I'll post pictures of the install in my mod thread when I get some free time. But wanted to let you guys know that this is a fantastic mod and definitely worth every penny.

I installed the autosolutions SSK at the same time, and that mod is also worth every penny. I'm so happy right now.

I can't wait for my mounts install. I had my engine mount bracket bolts replaced by dealer under warranty. They only replaced driver side and I don't trust their work. Ordered new Motorsport bolts to replace both sides. I will replace both TPS since the air collector needs removal to replace driver side mount.

This is the LAST DAY to order your Vibra-Technics motor mounts at the discount price!!

Quote:
The discount is good until January 13th.
The price is $260 (about current exchange rate for 160 GBP) for a set!! shipping included. Normally they are $404 for a set.

Just send a Email to Phil at Vibratechnics (His email is vibratechnics.leic @ gmail.com) with this Code in the header
Z4M0113 Discount Buy
They are normally 98 GBP per mount plus shipping. I got my mount in TWO days after I ordered it! Amazing. If you are on the fence, I would order a set. It can always be resold if you don't like it. The folks at Vibra-Technics recommends the street set. The competition set "might" cause severe NVH at idle and lower rpms. I haven't heard of any bad reviews on this forum or from M3 Forum. By the way, did you know that these are rebuildable.

^^^ Definitely pick these up today, you will love the change. I can't express how much of a positive change this is for our cars. Obviously don't have info on long term, but short term I am more than pleased.

I wrote it up for my mod thread here.

Good info in your Mod thread, I didn't know that the heat shield needed modifying. You didn't need to remove the airbox for the install did you? I think if your not doing motor bracket bolts that removing the section of intake with the MAF would be enough. I need to shift my motor mount bracket around a little to get the last two Motorsports bolts installed. So my intake is definitely coming off. I'll be starting my install on Wednesday.

It's a really minor modification, there's a little locking tab in the curved small heat shield above the mount. The original mount has a space for that locking tab, these do not.

Didn't have to remove the airbox, did have to use some incredibly long ratchet extensions to tighten the mounts from the top.

im not a hardcore as many of you guys, and i think i will be sticking with them.... their is a slight resonance @ low idle.... I cant lie tho, its no-where near as bad as i expected, but its very different to the fast road mount which really offers no NVH at all.....

The road mount is 4x stiffer than OEM. I really don't think most of us need the race version, FI or not...
Even with twice the HP / TQ, you still have twice the relative stiffness with the road version.
I am just voicing my opinion, because it is a smooth engine, and a great experience as is. I wouldn't want to muck that up too much. I think this was the goal of the road versions - and they nailed it.
I only have 10 miles on mine. We have had 20" of rain at my house since January 1st.

Aren't you afraid that mounts this rigid are going to tear your chassis mounting points over time?

not in the slightest... they are still natural rubber :-) if they were a solid alloy mount like HPF/VAC offer then maybe but nahhh, im not the type to worry about everything that MAY happen...

It is a valid point though.
Look at the aftermarket ARB mounts issue.
JMO but I don't see the point of using a race designed mount for the way we use our cars, when the manufacturer has a product specifically designed for combined street/track use.

This would be a good discussion to have with Vibra-tech

But wait, I did the same thing! Procrastination, guilty as charged. Contacted them and they were gracious to send me this reply:

Hello Thomas.

The group buy has ended from us directly. I have just been talking to Colin at Green Performance in the US Colin@greeneperformance.com who is putting together another buy locally which we will support. Please email Colin

if you get the chance could you put this on the forum (with the email link)

Regards

Phil B

Not sure if this helps you in Wien, SmartB, but check it out.

Tom

ok so.... although i cant drive the car properly ive run it up and down the driveway a few times and they feel..... ok. Theirs no vibrations to speak of more a of the resonance the phil said initially, i really wish i could venture further than the drive end but sadly the snow is falling thick and fast.... i LOVE the feel of the drivetrain with the new mounts competition mounts, The main area of concern seems to be at around 800rpm where you get the resonance, from what i can gather from slipping the wheels in 1st everywhere else is smooth, they offer a very robust feel to the way the car behaves and its a REALLY distinctive feel......... im desperate to get the car on a long run and get everything hot, use all the rev range and put these mounts under some stress......

i'll run these for a little bit then swap to the road mounts for a direct comparison...

so far im happy with them but until i can do a proper test i cant be sure....
