I'm doubtful that it will ever happen.
If the M3 brace was cross referenced we would have been OK, but it's not.
I think there would be too much development cost for the low numbers that would want it.

Actually they are going to make us one:

We are keen to progress this but as yet we do not have access to a car. We now have a prototype for the E46 which we hope to evolve into the Z4 mount.
Beedub! Get your car over there already. It's no longer winter

I'd be interested in seeing a cross-member that does a decent job of cutting back on chatter caused by a lightweight flywheel. Or, at the very least, doesn't add to it.

Why are you guys so negative!

They do want to build us a brace, in fact they need our help:

Quote:
We have a concept design but we need to get a crossmember from a car to measure up to make the final drawings.

Is there anyone in the club that has a spare crossmember complete with mounts that we could have for a couple of weeks. We could send it back after we have done the work.
Can anyone spare a brace to the UK? Beedub, can you ask on the UK forum to see if someone over there can lend them one?

For the most part you're right

But in this case they want a brace and are ready to make it. Hopefully someone on the UK forum can lend one and we can get this moving.

Edit: it looks like even if we have to buy one to send over, it's not terribly expensive. RealOEM link.

60 bucks for the brace and adapter, 20 bucks each mount is 100, add 20 for shipping and we get 120. So if we get 6 people to throw in 20 bucks we can make this happen.

Let's see if anyone from the UK pipes up in a week or two, but if not I say we make this happen ourselves while they're willing to make it.

These comp mounts have been in for a while, I had my first long drive yesterday and Thier is a resonance at certain revs, also more cabin creaks, but I barely notice it, completely happy with this mod, definitely one of my fave things I've done today. The difference in feel to the car in general is huge, literally huge.

More worryingly, I had an email
Asking if I'd sell my stock mounts, great idea I thought.... I didn't look at the during the install just threw then to the side of the garage.... On inspection, my 11k mile stock mounts were pending failure, manifold side had a thick crack around the base, supercharger side was perfect...... Also the cracked one had been compressed significantly...
You track guys or s/c cars really should uprate your mounts IMO...
Completely happy I did this.........

I would suggest the fast road units are ideal with literally no downfalls...

I will try and get the car over to VT when the weather pics up for the tranny brace... I need that in my life.

I'm in the UK and there seems to be no interest here in performance modding the Z4 apart from Beedub and me and possibly a few others. So don't expect anyone to come forward.

Absolutely 110% nail hit on head....
They seem more interested in lowering z4s on 7 series wheels...
Shame really.... Luckily the Internet connects me to the USA guys easily as I feel much more at home on zpost....... Funny how I first heard about a UK product on this forum!!

Second that. there's only a couple Z4M owners over here and the other guy seems like a poseur.

Why do we need the race brace btw?

its a really nice transmission replacement piece with awesome VT tranny mounts included!! really think it would be a lovely complete solution for engine/trann suspension.

BTW make sure you do your engine mounts... 4k miles on s/C killed my stock units.

The VT engine mounts are one of my favourite mods to date..... engine movement is significantly reduced!!

I bought AKG black units earlier, didn't know about these but i guess the black units are also good and will provide similar results.

Yeah I jumped on the AKG a few months ago too. They're still not on yet (German weather is still crap) so I'm thinking maybe resell and get these...these have such great reviews.

You're not allowed to post again in zpost until you're back from the shop with transmission race brace installation pictures.
