Bosch Motorsport and Turner Motorsport ECU

It's for the E46 M3. I'm assuming it could work for Z4M? Does this mean the dark age of non-tunable turbo Z4M is coming to an end?

Could be!

To retain DSC ABS and etc. I'd think the same modules would need to be in use across platforms. I don't have time now, but a real OEM search of part numbers, for DSC, etc. might yield some clues. Or maybe just a call to Turner!

I spoke to them about this last year, They told me that is should work. There may be a difference in the wiring harness though.

The real issue though is what potential gains / advantage there would be in a stand-alone configuration.

From what I know, with the Bosch unit, they have several canned tunes for different configurations. They are not able or possibly willing to do a custom dyno tune with this unit (a lot of politics going on in this shop), and I am not sure how user friendly the unit would be to tune by a 3rd party (i.e. Frank Smith or Randy Mueller etc...)

IMHO, If I were looking for a stand-alone option, I would consider AEM

To get reliable power means removing interference from emissions equipment or OBD oversight and eliminate the possibility of a race-ending limp mode or fault code.
Unless actually building a full race car why would you want to eliminate the limp mode or fault code?

Seems like a system developed for their race program that might be useful for the next guy building a race program.

Don't the Z4M's have a different ECU and ABS control unit than the E46 M3's. I know for certain that the ABS unit is newer/better.

The Z4M has a different ECU , harness, ABS module etc . I have looked into this extensively . If you really need an ECU upgrade I'd do the AEM infinity and have a custom harness made . It's going to be a pain for the first guy to do it though .
