I've seen some posts about swapping out dash and center console trim. So I know it's possible but kind of a pain. But does anybody know if the carbon trim is even available? Or would that need to come from a donor car? And how realistic is finding it? I've never seen anyone post a set on here.

Every great once and a while a set will pop up for sale on here, but it's rare, and they get scooped up almost immediately.
You can purchase the set new from BMW of South Atlanta, but the total cost is $1,800. This is the link: http://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/s...rimLevel=11868 I've played around with the idea over the years, but just can't bring myself to drop that much cash on a cosmetic interior item. Maybe one day, when everything else I want to do to my car has been scratched off the list.

Though that was rather cheap actually.. i would have thought at least dubble that price. Ive seen those bits go on ebay for 2K plus.. used.. realoem doesn't even list them anymore. id be grabbing those while you can.

I have the carbon trim. It's nice, but not $1800 nice.
If I had the aluminum and wanted better, I would take them out and wrap them with something creative. Or maybe paint them. For a lot less than $1800 you could take them to a professional artist and have them airbrushed.

Donor car is probably the cheapest and easiest option. Plenty of M roadsters and coupes totaled or converted for track use these days.

I just swapped out my aluminum trim with the oem Carbon trim from another member. It cos time about 1k plus 4 hours to do the swap. Not difficult to do, just time consuming and finicky.
