Vibra-technics Z4m transmission brace

Got an email from vibra:

Quote:
Thank you for your interest. We have not made any more progress yet on this specific part yet. The E46 brace was released a couple of months ago and we now have a base design we can work from. The next step would be to get hold of an OEM part and access to a car so we can determine the design final form we want to achieve

We need to find a car locally that we can get access to.
I tried posting on the UK forum and no one was remotely interested.

I still feel that with the vibra-technics engine mounts + a proper transmission brace we could make the 1->2 shift problem mostly go away. Just the engine mounts improved the situation drastically.

Funny you mention it, @Woots replied to the thread tentatively. Here's the thread.

Evolve was a 2 hour drive from me but I think vibra is about 4 hour drive....do-able I guess but not sure how long they'll need the car for so I would have to wait for a deployment or holiday. If it was a simple one day thing that may be possible...if it was advantageous for both parties obv

I asked how long they would need a car for, they responded:

Quote:
It would be good to have the car for 2 or 3 days but we could probably do everything in 1 day if thats all we had.
Would that work for you? I'll PM you their email address so you can get in touch directly.

I'll drop them an email and Investigate, but Byron is v close to them and seems to have not been taken up on offers to lend his car so ill see why that is the case

Also I don't have vibra engine mounts, seems that the transmission mounts need changing after or at the same time as the engine ones. So I'd maybe have to have both fitted??

I'll look into it, Byron would be a better suitor as he tracks his car, and I've not had any downshift issues etcetc, but I'm happy to guinea pig to progress the car even if its for zpost members benefit

Although any upgrade to my car is a bonus

I'll look into it guys

Thanks very appreciated. I'm also not sure why they haven't just talked with Byron as he did get the engine mounts from them.

The engine mounts are very very recommended, one of my top 3 mods. They will not be necessary for the fitting, but if you can pick them up for cheap for helping out I'd encourage you to! It is a very noticeable mod and will go extremely well with the throttle response of your alpha-n.

As for the brace, not everyone has the 1->2 grind, I think it depends on technique, your transmission, etc. But I'm hoping this will help minimize the problem for those that have it.

Make sure VT realizes that of the probably 60 sets of motor mounts they sold in the July GB, at least 20 buyers were from ZPost. And we give them a lot of good press, as well.

Given the recent catastrophic failures of the UUC trans mounts, if they build it, we will buy.

I seem to remember hearing that the transmission brace in the E85/6 M is the same as the one in the E46 with 6-speed.

The transmission itself is basically the same. Maybe someone with a ZHP or other 6-speed E46 would be willing to work with VibraTechnics. Can anyone confirm if the brace is the same between the 2 chassis?

The transmission in the e46 and z4m are different I'm afraid so I doubt it will fit right

The transmission brace is shared with all the Z4s as well as the e46 non-m. See realoem.

The E46 330 and Z4M both list a GS6-37BZ transmission, but the part numbers are different.

The 330 lists part #23007532498, and the Z lists #23007837983. Both list for $3801.30 + core on realoem!

In any case beta confirmed we should be able to have someone with an E46 (ZHP maybe) help VibraTechnic fit the brace. The mount itself seems to be shared too, and it fits on a ton of other cars as well.

My concern is that there's not a whole lot of room in there, so it might fit the e46 non-m just fine, but not fit the Z4s properly. I think they need to make it slightly taller than the OEM piece, don't quote me on that though.
