WTB: AS SSK for Z4MC
Hey folks,
Recently picked up my new-to-me 08 Z4MC a few months ago and have been interested in making some changes to improve the feeling of the shifter and brake pedal. I drove an S2000 for the first time a few months ago and haven't been able to get the feeling of the shift knob out of my head. I've read a lot about the Autosolutions SSK for the Z4MC and would be interested in buying one if someone has one for sale. Ronald seems to have a waiting list that goes until the end of the year, unfortunately. Thanks for reading! |

Don't get me wrong, I love my AS shift kit in the Z4MC. It improved the shifting considerably, most notably in my case the 3-2 downshift. I highly recommend it!
But it didn't make the car shift like an S2000. Nothing I've driven before or since shifts quite like an S2000. |

I had the AS SSK for a few years and definitely an improvement over stock, however this past winter I put in a chassis mounted shifter and what a huge improvement again over the SSK. Shifts are short and sharp, a bit notchy, but I like that.
A bit more effort to install but well worth it IMO.

dbarton62 what transmission mounts do you have to have, and did you notice any increase in NVH with the chassis mounted shifter?
Update, here are the throws with chassis mount shifter: Very short |

I went with the AKG shifter and DSSR. https://www.akgmotorsport.com/discover/shifter/
Solid nylon mounts engine and trans. NVH increased absolutely but nothing I personally can't live with.
