My 2007 Z4MC is still going strong on the original OE battery. I hook up the Battery Tender if it's parked in my garage for more than a couple of days.

WOW... rolling the dice, eh?

I chickened out and replaced my battery at year 8. I Tender"ize" my MC the same way you do.

Hope things are well, BTW... our paths haven't crossed in a long time.

Yes. Ive got both the M Roady and the CLS63 on the Battery Tender Plus. Rarely get to drive them bc time

Quick Note- if you use leads (if they come with your battery tender(not the alligator clips)), you can stick them in between the terminals and just have it permanently there instead of having to take off the alligator clips every time you go out to drive.
Mine came with a nice quick disconnect cable as well and it has a cover for it too!

Overall, its a good ~$45 investment to keep the battery going strong. My original battery died so I had to change that.

How often you do a recondition cycle?

Every 6-12M. 6 if driven infrequently, 12 if several times a week and 20 mile + distances.

You guys can't use the CTEK recondition cycle on the AGM battery in the e9x M3. Z4M and e46 standard battery was FLA, but can be upgraded to AGM at Autozone for example, which I did before I sold mine.
Beware.
Over-voltage (above 14.8v) will cause the pressure release valve to blow inside the AGM and ruin the Hydrogen recycling and balance of the electrolyte inherent in the AGM design.
The recondition mode takes voltage up to 15+ volts and is for flooded LA batteries that are sulfated.

Anything over 2 weeks of sitting and I usually throw a battery maintainer on it.

(5) cars, (1) tractor, (2) trolling motor batteries, (2) chargers/Desulfators/maintainers, (1) Desulfator/maintainer. I use BatteryMINDer brand. I can attest that these maintainers dramatically increase the life of my batteries. All vehicles have hard wired plugs so no clips required.

90 Corrado 18 yr old red top AGM
07 Z4MC 5 yr old FLA
01 525i 9 yr old FLA
97 S10 ZR2 8 yr old FLA
96 4runner 11 yr old FLA
01 John Deere 10 yr old FLA
2x 35 AH AGM for kayak 4 yr old

Hmmm. Well, guess I'll leave it in normal mode then. Good to know.

Only thing I'd check for is corrosion on the terminals after such a long period. Given your maintenance habits, I'm guessing that's done from time to time.

But of course! I had a mild feeling that you'd get yourself into your own MC and not let Skelekitty have all the fun... boy that was several years ago when we met up!

When are you going to make the drive up to Seattle? We need to do another photo shoot!

Yes, we have hers and his. Hers is now street only (she used to track it, but, the very thought of anything going wrong put her off running it there), mine is mainly for track. I tried running an E36 M3 at the track, but, it just wasn't as much fun. Well, we have the Z4M bases covered I guess!

Seattle! Very tempting! Especially with the inevitable summer heat that is coming. (Hard to believe given the past winter....) If we do plan on getting to the PNW I'll let you know well ahead of time.
