Z4 Roadster .... sub upgrade?
I'm interested in replacing the 6.5" Subs and adding an amp in my roadster.
Currently have a stock business stereo, though not sure if I have an amp. Where would it be located? Thinking of adding: (2) JL 6W3v3-4 subs in the stock sub location (1) JL JX360-2 Amp in the truck. AudioControl LC2iB - 2-channel line output converter for adding amps to your factory system Any input, advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated. 2007 Z4 roadster

You need to research (online and physically in your car) exactly what system you have installed. I have the Top Hifi system and did a full overhaul aft of the OEM amplifier because I wanted to retain the NAV and other integration. Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with the other systems to speak in depth about them.
If you have an amp, it will be next to the battery in the battery well. You will need to search the web for a pinout. Or, pop a subwoofer out, identify the color striping and then match to the amp. That will probably take less time. BTW, I used those same subs. I like them, but they really don't hit like something bigger. |

If its like mine (04 roadster) you have 4 subs, 2 in the footwell and 2 behind the seats.
Have you checked depth and airspace for those subs? I need to replace mine and looking for a solution. The amp is in the battery compartment under the trunk floor. Last edited by thrak410; 12-01-2016 at 09:15 PM.. |

I have the 8 or 10 speaker set up without the amp, at least its not located next to the battery. After talking to an audio friend, he recommended I add a 10" sub in the trunk, since I am only looking to add a little more sub.
I am thinking one of these: 10" sub http://www.jlaudio.com/acp110lg-tw1-...-systems-93332 8" sub http://www.jlaudio.com/acp108lg-w3v3...-systems-93330

I have the 10 speaker business system without an amp.
Gave it some though and leaning towards adding (2) 6W3v3-4 subs behind the seats. Does anyone know where do I find the remote wire to install a new amp?

Subbing for info.
I have a different system (DSP) but have had similar thoughts of just replacing the stock subs. Search the forums (in Audio) and google. You'll be able to find some diagrams. |

I have the same 6" JL subs, a kicker amp and a signal converter. Sound nice but not dramatically better than stock DSP system. 6" just isn't big enough to get a lot of bass. The bavsound mid range and tweeter upgrade I put in was decent. If I had to do it again I would rip out everything and start from scratch but I have prioritized a suspension upgrade over sound.
