Layer of scum under oil filler cap? (2005 Z4, M54 engine)
First time changing the oil in this car today and I noticed the bottom of the oil filler cap had a layer of scum. It doesn't look white or foamy. Should I be concerned?
Car runs perfectly fine and pulls strong. Oil doesn't smell funny and wasn't abnormal in color or milky or anything like that when I drained it. I don't think I'm loosing coolant either but I've only had the car for a month so I wouldn't really know - but the coolant level is normal. |

thanks guys. i need a second opinion to reassure me. a friend of mine also told me the same thing and said it's probably because it was sitting on the dealer's lot for a few months and only had short runs/test drives.
i'll keep an eye out on the coolant level and the cap. thanks and happy holidays! |
