Smile Does anyone run dfferent width treads?

Front 225 45 17
Rear 245 40 17 1 inch wider tread / O.D. is .4 inch smaller

Both tires run on stock rim size. Tirerack says it is acceptable.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050.

I may be unhappy with this set up . I'll post results. I bought and mounted the front tires a couple of weeks ago and have the rears headed this way. When the rears get installed I'll give the results and photos.

The Z4 looks better with a slightly larger tread in the rear in my opinion. I could be wrong it's happen before.

There is a good non-M wheel & tire discussion thread here...

My "other" car is an E46 330i with sport package and it came with 225-45-17 and 245-40-17 as stock setup. The rear rims are an inch wider though. You should be fine with those sizes

Really not much difference in a side view.

I think it looks better. Can't tell much difference in driving.

I have the sport with the staggers wheels, but I have never like how "stretched" the front tires look with the 225's. The rear 255's are perfect on the sidewall. I want to put widers up from purely for cosmetic reasons.

This makes we want to do it even more.
