I do not have a tool to reset the light. Sorry I can not help with that. The passenger seat is the only seat with the air bag sensor in it. They assume that if the car is moving, that there is a driver.

I wonder what would cause the srs light to turn on during a smog check. Would the wheels spinning in the back but not the front cause the system to freak out?

I would not think it would. When you have it cleared, find out what the code says it is. What year z do you have?

You most likely just need to have it cleared. In 04 they changed the seat sensor and had a recall on them. You being an 03 , you should not have that issue.

You should come out and meet the SoCalZ's sometime. I maintain a list of Z's in SoCal. There are 339 of us ( Z1,Z3,Z4, and Z8's ).I send BCC emails to the group when we have events going on. If you would like to get these emails send me a PM with your email address. I do not share or give email addresses to anyone unless I ask you first ( EX: Bob who was that guy with the chrome rims ).I would then email you and ask to share your email.

I read this site.

hxxp://www.ecplaza.net/product/205017_1258194/bmw_carsoft_65.html

And it said carsoft 6.5 can reset airbag light. I've never known of any software that could and they are in China so perhaps they are making claims that aren't true.

yeah, you're not too far at all. If we can try your tool that would be awesome. No rush though. I drive over there sometimes. I used to live in Diamond Bar and worked in Puente Hills for years. I used to be a manager at the Mervyns on Colima a while back. Maybe you came in before, hehe. I used to eat at the Garden Cafe there and some of the other places you might have been too. I've never used it, so do you know how to use it fairly well?

Thank you for writing Jeff,
Yes, Carsoft will read and clear Airbag codes which will reset the light if your BMW was manufactured between 1988 and 10/2007.
Best regards,
Tom

So it looks like it will=)
