Z4 M coupe Mods - What to get??
I am picking up my jet black z4 m coupe on Thursday. I am coming from a heavily modded Mini John cooper works, which was one of the funnest cars I have had. Being a newbie here, if you were to rank the first 5 mods that you would initially get which would they be?? I am looking for best bang per buck.

these are all rough estimates
1: euro headers -900.00 2:re weld and relocate the 02 sensors ( you can find a plethora of DIY's here i did mine in march) 3: Autosolutions short Shift Kit I paid 350.00 4: Mufflers are up too you... I own a roadster so Rpi's felt right but in coupe form there is way more drone so be careful unless youre like me and want to set off every alarm in the neighborhood :-) 5: Bilstein PSS10 2750.00 if anything do the header exhaust combo or the suspension work I think the suspension work was what really gave the car a more racer feel just because of the way it handled. If you can afford to do everything at the same time then by all means...oh btw congrats on buying one of the most rare BMW's ever made I think theres like under 2k Z4M coupes on the planet cheers |

Welcome. There is a thin market for aftermarket items for our cars. But there is plenty of stuff to make it your own.
Performance IMO will trump looks. I think the exterior doesn't need to be touched. 1. UnderDrive Pullies (Looking around 10HP gain most) 2. Euro Headers 3. SSK or ZHP Knob (Makes a world of a difference) 4. Good Tires (I run Hankook RS3s for autocrossing) 5. Sway Bars. There was/is 1815 IIRC Coupes in the US. Welcome to a small club |

For performance, most bang for the buck at the top.
1. Tires. I really like the Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/275. 2. Differential 3.91 or 4.11 gears OR ESS Supercharger (I wouldn't do both, but you could). 3. Coilovers. 4. Euro Headers + Tune. 5. Brakes. If you get a supercharger in step 2 i'd say do the headers at the same time so you only have one tune to deal with, and then i'd do brakes before coilovers.

Best bang for buck as Villa said would be Euro Headers and optional exhaust. You get great performance improvements from the S54 at a price you can't beat.
Suspension is always a good one if your wallet permits. Of the selection we have at a fair price I would suggest Bilstein, Ground Control, KW, or TC Kline. If you want an out of this world suspension setup (extremely pricey) then check out Moton or AST. Aesthetics: Wheels are obviously preference, but many people like to track the M, so light weight and aggressive fitment would go to Volk or CCW, IMO. Aero-kits are pricey and sometimes alter the already beautiful car, so many of us decided to add on lips or the APR Splitter. Another great addition would be a GT wing if you decide to go that route, but if not there are trunk spoilers that are very subtle like the OEM spoiler which is $400 shipped from Tischer. I can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'm sure the rest of the community will be able to list more. Grats on your purchase and welcome to the club!

1)remove the cdv. Literally ASAP it will make the experience much better (or install an aftermarket unit)
2)Aftermarket intake filter/ remove the emissions filter 3)clutch stop 4)headers/ tune or mufflers depending on what your after (power or sound) the cdv if just removed and the intake emissions filter will be free to do so i highly recommend doing it quickly, totally makes the whole driving experience much more enjoyable. |

I'd consider the following assuming the previous owner hasn't done them already. I'd also look in the FAQ and Mod List stickies. Bimmerfest has a lot of resources as well too if you need another place to research. Clutch Delay Valve (CDV) Delete: If you know how to drive stick the CDV will bug you, make it hard to be smooth, and generally get in the way. Cheap and easy mod. If under warranty or CPO consider the Zeckhausen modified version; otherwise remove it. Well under 100 dollars parts and labor. There are lots of threads on these and the other topics provided. Advanced search works well, as does Google with "site:www.zpost.com\forums" in the search string. So, what do you plan to do with the car? (Track, auto-x, weekend toy, ???) |

Thanks for the warm welcome and the many suggestions gents! I do not plan to track the car, it will be my dd for the most part. For suspension upgrades, I am definetly going coils, control arms, and better sway bar. As for go fast mods, I didn't really see any responses for CAI? Any reason why? Is the oem CAI good enough? Also, what good one stop on line shops offer most of these upgrades?

Stock intake is well designed, only real reason to get aftermarket is for sound not performance. Definitely get yourself a clutch stop, still one of my favorite and cheapest mods.

Top three for me:
1)Headers (more pwr, more rasp) 2)AFE Intake (sound, better throttle response) 3)Zeck CDV / Clutch Stop / Tranny mounts / ZHP knob (all together make a decided difference) |

Same as above. I'd like to add leatherique. Did my interior this weekend....WOW. So much softer now.
And to add for the alignment, you can get the e36 shim kit to get more negative camber out of the front. Turner sells them. They are basically washers. |
