Floor jack size?
Hello Team:
Is a 1.5 ton floor jack enough for the weight of the Z4? Thank you very much.

I have a 2 ton and a 3 ton trolley jack and i only use the 2 ton to lift the side of car enough for me to slide in the 3 ton on the central jacking points. In my opinion, the 2 ton doesn't lift the car high enough.

I think from a capacity standpoint it would be fine. However, many of the jacks I've seen in that range have a rather high profile and could present problems on such a low car as ours.

Well, the car weights more than 1.5 tons. But you won't be lifting the entire weight at once, so it should be ok. Too close for my taste, though - I would use a minimum rated 2 ton jack, personally.

1.5 ton is plenty capable for our cars. In most cases, you're only jacking 1 corner at a time, which is only about a quarter of the jack's rated limit. If it's a lower profile jack and you can get to the center point to lift the entire front or rear, that's still only about half it's rated limit.
