here's the delimma, say I get the new engine....
I have the SS race system coming in. So should I just put in the x pipe and race mufflers, and drive it for a year, before putting in the headers and race cats? Or should I put it all in... then when there's a prob, take them off and then go to the dealer? You know once they replace the engine, there will be scratches etc in the engine area, so they can't really say that I did something outside. Just like when you buy a packaged good, and the seal is broken once you take it apart, but in this case, the seal's already broken... any pointers? |

some guy this same problem with his M3, the car was out of warranty, and he had to pay over 10K CAD to fix the car. That's what I heard from the dealer.
So I guess I'm lucky this happened during the warranty. And lucky I was in the drive through and not on the highway when this happened. |

sbmc, is your car an '07 like your sig says or an '06 like you said earlier in the thread?
I would be interested in knowing what production date started with the updated parts. Is it a direct correlation to the production year of car? |

last week, they:
1. put the engine back together. wouldn't start. 2. took it apart again, found that the valves were bent. 3. Now they are putting in the valves and going to see if the engine will start. 4. If that doesn't work, they'll take it apart again and check the pistons... and if that doesn't work, they'll order a new engine. I asked the tech rep, why don't they just check the pistons... he said that BMW warranty, "that's how they do it... " they check one by one and then... blah blah.... I'm not a mechanic, but I'd probably take it apart to check the pistons all at once... but that's just me.... He said it's because the car's under warranty, that's why they do that... whatever... |
