Tires on stock wheels

I'm going to replace the OE Continental this weekend. I'm thinking about going 240/40/18 & 275/35/18 on Yokohama S Drive. Anyone running something similar and rubbing or other issues?

You don't want Yokohama S Drives, you want Dunlop Direzza Starspecs: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=294185

I understand the Dunlop will fit but what about the S Drive?

It will fit because it's an imaginary tire size and therefore you can mold it to fit any size or shape you can imagine!

(There's no such thing as a 240/40)

If you're putting them on stock rims, you should be fine. The only time I get any rubbing at all is when I'm cranked hard over to the right which is very rare (suspension-wise I'm stock).

Don't know about the S Drive, but I have Dunlops in that size on my stock wheels, and I don't have any rubbing even at autox events.

Sumitomo HTR Z III 245/40/18 and 275/35/18

Taking a chance with the sumitomos on my z4mc. I drove about 150 miles each way to the Tire Rack in South Bend, IN on good friday. Drove home in the rain most of the way, but so far no rubbing. I will be auto crossing Sunday the 19th and will update this forum afterwards. If they perform, I will feel like I got over. My hope is this tire will perform 90% as well as the big names for 50% of the cost.
