There's no belt-driven hydraulic pump that's constantly running. This allows the car to become more efficient at the cost of road feel. I believe the increase in gas mileage is the main reason BMW has started using electric steering on most of its vehicles.

Ok,
I had forgotten that aspect. Though I think the PS pump only consumes approx. 1HP. |

Here's something I found on the internet, so it can't be wrong! (sarcasm)
"One of the advantages of electric power steering is that it eliminates the power steering pump, which can use as much as 8 to 10 horsepower under load" http://www.aa1car.com/library/steeri...r_electric.htm |

lol wth is Dynapack? I've heard most Dyno-nuts stick to Mustang dynos and Dynojet.. maybe thats why some of the posters find the numbers to be off.

Dynojets are desirable because there's apparently less room for altering the dyno setup to read higher figures. But I've also heard otherwise, and it's an ongoing debate. But at the end of the day though, dynos are meant to be just a point of reference. So as long as you stick to the very same one you start with throughout the modification process, you're golden Consistency is always key. Last edited by mfanatic325; 10-03-2010 at 01:04 PM.. |
