No worries here. He's not going to jet hot coat the stock doors, that would be a waste. But when he gets his CF ones, well, I wouldn't bet against it!

Barney.....you'll need to PM me your cell number so I can best describe the shipping pallet configuration etc.
We've got one shot at getting this right so I don't end up spending all my time doing repairs and bodywork.

Ok guys and gals, just spoke with Villa-Barn... Looks like we are in motion. What a new concept... Members pitching in to buy an OEM part that is to be molded for CF! Usually I have to blow all my own cash flow on parts while developing panels. I think we all knew these doors were a good chance to shave weight in a good yet rare place on our Z's.
I'll do my best to stop and snap pix as things unfold here at the shop.

you are more than welcome to pitch in a little something like everyone else did and get back double what you invested in discounted prices for the doors.

I've been spending too much money lately! I have myself on lockdown for the rest of the year! My latest Lithium Pro L925 hurt. I weighed it at 7 lbs. Crazy light!

Yeah it is awesome. There is NO way it weighs the advertised 9.75 lbs. It's 7 lbs with the added battery posts. After making my own aluminum battery tray I saved 50lbs easy. Reviews say there is NO cons other than price. Its as powerful as a larger battery. Lets not get away from the doors. I hope the doors also save a lot of weight.

I would have 3 concerns with the doors:

The first would be fit. It would have to be perfect.

The second would be how the door feels and sounds when the door is closed. BMW has a good solid feeling door. I wonder how a CF door feels and sounds when it is shut.

The third for me is paint matching. I am one who would have the door painted. I need to have a more civilized look to my vehicle. My concern is how difficult it is to paint match this material. I am fresh off a headache of paint matching fiberglass. It was a major pain!

I spoke with Vince for the entire hour today and I'm telling you the guy is f****** solid. don't worry about a thing. you have to keep in mind oh that everything here is proprietary so he is not going to be very willing to give out his secrets. I mean at least that's what I would do. just be patient and the result will be very good. btw the doors won't cost that much more than your iron Man battery

The door perimeter will not vary from that of OEM. Which I don't personally feel is THAT great compared to say...Porsche Panamera.

The second would be how the door feels and sounds when the door is closed. BMW has a good solid feeling door. I wonder how a CF door feels and sounds when it is shut.

I concur with Roffle here...our doors lack that solid 'thunk' that cars really need to sound firm/crisp. A Cf door made with core materials will indeed rival this and also create additional sound dampening from the road. When shutting it, it will resonate more like a door with 5 lbs of added Dyna-mat.

The third for me is paint matching. I am one who would have the door painted. I need to have a more civilized look to my vehicle. My concern is how difficult it is to paint match this material. I am fresh off a headache of paint matching fiberglass.( ABS plastic with primer) It was a major pain!
Yeah, I watched as you suffered that ordeal. I have 30+ years knowledge as a paint correction/re-finisher and re-storer. All I can say is your tech fought a good fight and won. But it shouldn't have been that difficult IMHO. It is NOT the material substrate in which a color match can be botched. It will lie in primers, textures, humidity and layers of color. Not mentioning color quality and product line familiarity.

I'm also one who would be painting....
I feel I have a decent chance with AW though.
