Weather has been nice. Getting a little cooler now with possible freeze temps at night and into the lowe 50's during the day. One of the things I like the most since movingn to Austin area in '91 has been the winter weather.
Now, it's just time to take a break from work and relax for a couple of weeks.

Hey all. Did you all survive the holidays? I did...barely. I had a good holiday season but I am glad its over. Post up what you got for xmas! I got myself a sweet new laptop. Also got some oakleys, a new wallet, and some really nice sweaters. I plan to get my M Coupe some goodies in the upcoming year. Once it gets a little warmer here.

i guess i got myself a gruppe m as an early christmas present, but other than tt, i haven't actually bought anything else! had a spectacular new year's vacation in tokyo with the lady, really impressive society and culturally rich indeed.
absolutely struggling to keep myself from going down an aftermarket exhaust route. i'm perfectly happy with the quiet cruises and downright crazy spirited runs post gruppe m install |

Christmas was great! L O N G drive back to TN, but it was worth it. tons of fun! Vegas + NYE = the best!! HAd such a blast on Fremont. Went down to the strip to play some beer pong, but not for the world series. didn't know that was going on til after the fact. and yes, there's a World Series of Beer Pong. haha!!
I got a PS Move from the wife. Got some other little things here and there. Plan on getting a ocuple of pieces of exhaust in the near future along with a GruppeM. After that, I think I'll be done modding for a while.

Other than the ZHP shift knob, I've not bought anything for mine. I like her just how she is. However, if I could afford it, a new set of rims and maybe the RPi exhaust sure would be nice...! But totally not necessary, the car is great as it is. I absolutely love it.

todd, it'll be tough finding a gruppe m used, and brand new (cos of the strong yen) cost almost $1300 excluding shipping from japan. i'm almost wanting to justify me blowing however many quid i did on it, but do seriously consider afe's offerings as i can't see the gruppe m being twice as good performance-wise. sound-wise they're probably almost identical. granted, the hand made carbon fiber gets gasps and wows everytime someone asks me where tt menacing sound comes from

what up north dallas! in case you didn't know, there's Cars and Coffee events every first saturday of the month at Classic BMW in Plano. I might be going to March's. There's a few members on here from DFW area, you might see em driving around.
I'm gonna try to schedule my Inspection 2 for the friday before since i'll be going to Classic anyway. We should try to get a Z meet going!

^thanks for the headsup, but houston is too far for me. just curious, are u running any specific intake and/or exhaust on ur car? from the video it doesn't quite sound like the familiar s54 growl.

I'll make a new thread if the need arises, but I came across this:
http://www.lscbmwcca.org/forum/Topic10911-4-1.aspx It's the weekend after MFest (which is a priority for me at least). It's a BMWCCA sponsored DE and they have invited Mercedes, Audi, and Mitsubishi clubs out as well (since they didn't get enough people for a fall event). I've never been to any type of DE and would like to attend this. Just getting the info out there early if anyone else wants to go... EDIT: I didn't even see ^ those two posts! I won't be able to make it to Houston, probably ever. lol

Cars & Coffee?
East Dallas resident checking in. Just got a 2008 Z4 coupe, and love it. Is the thing at Classic on the first Saturday a meet and greet type thing? Do you have to be in the BMWCCA?

It's open to all makes models and years of cars. Not necessary to be in BMWCCA. When I went (back in June) there wasn't a lot out at first due to rain, but saw an awesome GT40, lots of 2002's a few M3s, 2 M Coupes! Camaros, muscle cars, etc. It was fun.

C&C has been getting bigger each time it is held. This past couple of times I've skipped out simply because getting in and out is just a pain in the butt. If you can get there early (before 8am) you should be able to get a spot. But anytime after that and you are going to be fighting for one. I usually ride my bike so it's not an issue () but if I take the M, I have to set my alarm to wake me up so that I can get there before everyone else does.
Just a word of caution: Anyone is allowed to attend these events. There was an incident a few months back where 14 brand new BMW's that belong to Classic were vandalized. You can read more about it here - http://forum.carsandcoffee.info/show...eeds-your-help. Just a friendly reminder to watch your precious prize. Most people know better than to do some shady shit like this. But there are those few that simply do not care about others belongings. To hell with them. |

^wow, tt's just sickening. the fact tt the family owners of classic bmw host cars and coffee every month in dallas is already a great service, and to read about vandals having their childish 'fun' with 14 brand new bmw's (albeit those tt were moved to accommodate the many tt attend cars and coffee) is infuriating.
san antonio's coffee and rides resumes this saturday after the christmas break. really hoping there aren't any such issues (it's been absolutely flawless so far, have even left my car unlocked and all as i'm having a bite in panera). guess i'm just hoping it doesn't rain on saturday.... |

So, who got hail, snow and ice last night?
I swear they should close the state when the roads are iced over. People here DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FREAKING DRIVE in this!!!! I live 1.6 miles from work, and that's even through the front gate. in that time (though before the gate) i saw 3 people spin out, trying to take a turn too fast! I was scared when i saw a big SUV coming my way, under control but going WAY too fast! Seriously. Roads have maybe 1/2" of solid ice. not breaking, not salted... why do people think they can go 45 in a 45 in these conditions?! and NO they don't have winter tires (snow tires, what's that?!)
