This guy did 215/35 front and 225/40 rear. I don't like stretch but these are my favorite wheels under $3k so c'est la vie.

The reason so many aftermarket have 74.1 is to accomodate the stupid E39.

The wheels are NLA and we didn't realize it, so the Style 5s are off unless I find a used set. FML. Off to other ideas, still want a nice set of BBS.

I'm looking at replacing my wheels once my rubber has gone! Does anyone know the specs for the standard factory Z4 2.5i 2005 wheels? I'm assuming they are 17" wheels but haven't found any info on them.

BTW, I'm looking at these as a replacement. Any good advice is welcome.

Front wheels are 18x9 + 42 with a 245/40/18 tire.

Car has to be slammed on KW V3 coilovers.

Whats is the smallest spacers that will allow me to clear the coilover perch without poking too much in front.

Basically, I wanna run low, So I need the perfect compromise between clearing the perch and the fender...

No camber plates involved.

5mm is usually a safe bet to clear the perch, but I think the problem is your tire choice. 245/40 is really tall compared to the stock 255/35 (about 0.6" taller) so you will most likely rub on the liner, especially w/o camber.

A question of fit.
I currently have Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s on the 18" Si wheels, staggered. I came across a set of Black Polish BBS CH-Rs yesterday and would like to continue to another set of RE-11s on those. Aside from the relatively short tyre life, they've been outstanding however, they're not available in the suggested tyre size for my car, given the new wheel sizes.

New wheels:
BBS CH-R BPO
19x8.5 ET 32
19x9.5 ET 35

BBS Suggested tyre sizes:
235/35/19
265/30/19

Q: Would it be alright to bump the rears to 275/30/19, to accept the Bridgestones? If not, I'll be mounting Michelin Pilot Super Sports, though losing my discounted pricing at Bridgestone. Is anyone else in use of 275s on the 19x9.5 rear with a similar offset? I don't want spacers or anything silly, I'd just like for it to fit, albeit properly.

No offense but you consider spacers to be "silly" but I would say so is running a 275 in this situation.

The manufacturer's suggested tyre sizes yield a limited number of available fitments however, shifting to a 275 would increase the list of both possible and preferred options. THIS is why I'm asking. I already know 275s will fit on 9.5s, Mr. Dubs.

You'll have 2mm more inner clearance, and the wheels will stick out 28mm more.

According to Tire Rack you'll be adding 0.7" of tread width and 0.6" of diameter going from a 255/35/18 rear tire to 275/30/19 tire. I would be concerned with the outside rubbing, but it may work.

Zpost isn't like prison where you have to beat up someone right when you show up . We're not like other boards.

A lot of tires will fit a 9.5 but that's not the point. A 275/30 not only sticks out as pokey described but it also runs 0.4" taller. Then you have the issue of the added weight and more understeer due to the excess width in the rear. Poor fitment combined with worse handling and slower take off in exchange to get the preferred tire model is where I was going with this. You're better off using proper sizes in a different tire because you really gain nothing by going with a 275 imo.

Btw be careful with the fronts. I suspect you may rub with the 235, most likely will need camber.

I've been playing with Autocad 2002 making some simple drawings looking into swapping staggered stock 17" 105s with 225/45 and 255/40 for staggered 18s with 245/40 and 275/35

Red lines are the outline of the tires
Magenta lines are the outline of the wheels
Yellow lines are just working lines I used to establish track width, which also allowed me to establish the approximate hub to hub dimensions using stock specs for track width and wheel ET. Also use them to visualize the differences in clearance between different tires and wheels.

Tire specs I used were Nitto Motivo

Wheel specs were for Voxx Maglia 18x8.5 ET40 and 18x9.5 ET40

Zip file contains my simple CAD drawings if someone wants to play with them. I'm not an engineer or draftsman. Just had enough schooling in Autocad almost 18 years ago to be dangerous LOL.

Front



Wheels are 0.023" closer to the inner fender and 0.523" closer to the outside of the fender.

Tire sidewall is 0.117" closer to the inner fender and 0.663" closer to the outside of the fender

Tire diameter is 0.75" larger which is 0.375" (3/8") larger from the center of the wheel.

Overall tire width increases 0.78"

Front track width increases 0.546"


Rear



Wheels are 0.11" closer to the inner fender and 0.89" closer to the outside of the fender.

Tire sidewall is 0.17" FURTHER AWAY from the inner fender and 0.61" closer to the outside of the fender

Tire diameter is 0.59" larger which is 0.295" (just under 5/16") larger from the center of the wheel.

Overall tire width increases 0.44"

Rear track width increases 0.78"


I think this setup could work rather well without spacers. It's what I'm planning to try soon when I gather up a little more "Momma don't know" play money.

Yep. Thank you. I like to look at pictures and not just numbers..... And I'm retired so I really have nothing better to do than play with CAD and math to keep the mind sharp. Prolly spend all day tomorrow tweaking the drawings since I'm waiting for parts for the lawnmower my wife broke today

I was looking for something that was fairly close to factory specs on the inside without huge differences on the outside that would allow me to shim it out a wee bit if needed for inside clearance or if wanted. I'd like to keep the alignment at factory specs and if needed I think my heat gun could take care of any minor rubbing and trying to avoid rolling the fenders.

I'm street use only with decent roads around me and generally a fairly conservative driver but occassionally like to drive a bit sporty on a twisty country road. Mostly I just love the look of a lot of meat tucked under the car. If I ever track it, it would be to run the Texas mile once just to see what she could do and mabey try an autocross someday.

Terrible pic but ended up with 18x8.5 BBS RXIIs all around. Trying to remember the offset...will update when I check my records. Want to say 32ET.

245/40-18 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires. No rubbing...rears can stand to go another 10mm out with spacers, will do that soon.
