I was curious, so I swung by Carmax for one of their free appraisals on my 2007 Z4 M Coupe with 25k miles - $23,000. They've got a silver 2007 M Coupe with 36k miles on their site for $32,000.

We all know that the only benefit Dealers give us is the convenience of selling the vehicle fast. I think I'd rather sell to a nice person who loves the car at a fair price.

I sold my '07 3.0si coupe to Carmax a few weeks ago. I just got tired of tire kickers and low ballers and was ready to be rid of it. I took $20,500. Now I'm making a point of not doing ANY internet shopping for anything similar so I don't stumble upon it being sold for $25-26k, which is what I'm assuming they're asking. Said and done, I'm glad it's gone. Would have like to have gotten more and sold it to an enthusiast but oh well.

I remember trying to get rid of my Z3 in order to buy the Z4 (actually ended up owning both for 2-3 months) and I was only getting $5500 offers from dealerships for a trade. The car was a '96 in pristine condition with 59k miles on it. Eventually ended up getting $8k private party. Its a HUGE hassle, but I figured that I put in maybe 20 additional hours trying to sell it. That's like paying myself $125/hour... seemed worth it to me when I put it in those terms.
As an aside... fuck craigslist! I had so many people come for a test drive only to offer me 1/2 of what I was asking. Ridiculous. Surprisingly, had awesome luck on eBay. |
