I came up to see my friend from Chicago who was in town interviewing. I also originally had planned to drive my car up and have a potential buyer take a look at it but ended up driving up a loaner because my car is still at the dealer for the clunking. It turned out to be a broken bolt for the diff mount so should be fixed soon.

Sure! Lemme know when, and we can carpool. Split hotel cost with me? Since two beds is usually almost same price as just one bed. Keep in touch

Ever been to that track in Reno? It looks interesting.... Yes, SK is planning on entering a shot--we just need to pick one out. There are several that are pretty darn good candidates IMO. |

Reno-Fernley racetrack is about 40 minutes east of Reno. 4 mile track with lots of configurations. I haven't been there, but it looks interesting!

It was phenomenal for me. The day had all sort of weird climate I'm not used to (it went from gloomy with a slightly damp track at 9:00 am, to moderate fog in the middle of the day, to sunny and just about perfect by the end) but it's Laguna Seca...The rolling hills, the aura and history, the land-marks...
Had I known it was going to stay dry the whole day I would have brought the MZ4 Coupe.

If you don't like the weather in one session, the next one will be different there! It was curious how they brought out the fog just for the instructors' session.
They were better organized than in past years, and I hit the perfect storm for instructors - one of my goals for the day was to transfer skills I had worked on there last month in a Miata to the E36 tracktoy, and conveniently my instructor had previously gone thru the transition from racing E30s to E36s and figuring out how that chassis worked - just what I needed; and her rather infectious laugh kept things bubbling in the cabin during the sessions - not sure if I could have handled that when I was a newbie but works fine now. |

haha I've been to Laguna on a pouring day once. Luckily I had some General Exclaim UHP tires at the time that I carried over from my other set of wheels. I ended up leveling up moreso than a "dry day". Wet days teach you a tremendous amount
And not to mention, I accidentally did a full-out drift at turn 5 for one and all to see For those that know the track, I was braking hard just prior to turn 5, while downshifted from 4th to 3rd and initiated my turn-in early since it was wet out. Then when I got on the throttle, my rear end kicked out and everyone (including myself) thought that it was over. They were probably going to hafta black flag the entire course, pull everyone into the hot pits, and lose precious session time. But no. I somehow marvelously reacted (thanks GT5! ) and counter-steered perfectly. Just the right amount, at just the right times. And I was able to correct everything I shouldn't have been going at that pace though, since it was wet out and also the first lap of the last session of the day What was even more remarkable was all the and I got from everyone when I pulled into the paddock after that session. They were like BRAVO! I was just like eh eh hahaha |
