What's the reason for doing this? It's just a number after all, though would be nice if we got financial incentives based on the content we create, I'm trying to figure out how I can monetize the valuable service I provide .

Just so we're all on the same page, don't think the numbers you see now are final numbers at all.

We're making averages of averages of averages and recalculating over and over to come up with a better balance. So the numbers will be changing here and there.

They will probably settle into a final balance sometime during the week.

Yeah, I went from 326 down to 315. I guess losing 11 points isn't as bad as losing 150, but I want them back please.

Yeah..you probably need to start removing all those M-badges from your car now.

Haven't lost any *yet* but probably will as all of my likes can't be seen anymore except for the most recent ones that happened after the new system began to be implemented.

Yeah there's that one guy joekerr who only posts in off topic and has over 1000 rep. So I guess under the new rules he's at 0.

Haha, it wouldn't matter to him, the guy is epic with or without rep points.

The old system rewarded posters with collections of bikini shots and idiots like me who stand out for the wrong reasons. It had nothing to do with their quality as contributors and people who read the off topic have a good grasp on what to read anyway so the system is redundant.

The forum has a few solid moderators and them appreciating posts that actually are informational should be the fair way to sort out the sizes of our penises. That way the balance would shift more towards the reason many of us originally registered here.

And I think thats the way it should be.
This is a car forum after all, not a watch/sports/political/whatever forum.
If any merit should be given, it should be related to on topic (thus BMW related) content.

Agreed

As this is bimmerpost, not politics.com or vitamins.com, the rep points from car posts is what should be displayed imo.

If averages are used, in no way should more reps be allowed than from the main threads. For example, if 10 reps in car forum and 1000 in off topic, max of 20 total reps should be shown imo.

This would force more quality posts in car forums.

It’s ridiculous that some posters have 1 post out of the last 120 in the car section and collected several hundred appreciates from those same 120 posts (and none from their car forum post).
