I guess its almost time to initiate a group buy.
but we have some hurdles that I have broken down into phases Phase one: finding a spare Drive Shaft Phase two: the wait until August for the first CF/DS to come out. Phase Three: Not giving into the carbon diet and finding more things to remake in Carbon....lol but seriously I guess Ill start a tentative GB list |

I know the CF shafts we used on the Skyline GT-R R34's and Syclone awd turbo trucks were a great addition to the effort of removing weight in the driveline.
And we didn't have ANY failures with vehichles all the way up to 1200 hp and constant track use. If something else comes into play...off track excursion etc....then you have other probs as well. Go for the group buy. In fact ...you should buy Chris's shaft (from previous posted link) > (http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513719) ...and get the ball rolling. |

yeah BTM came here threw up all over the begining of this thread, i knew that positive reinforcement would come through from somewhere....also I tried Chris but when I called him he told that was taken by the guy who bought the engine. so no joy there....a long shot would be to get donations to come up with a pool to buy a new DS and mail it to Mark at ACPT....

I'm potentially interested. What's the weight of the stock driveshaft?
My angle would be reducing noise + less shock on drivetrain components. I wonder if it would make it a better or worse daily driver.

I have an ACPT driveshaft on my STi. If I had it to do over again, I would not have done it given my car's power level. My STi puts 340awhp to the ground and 400awtq. There are benefits BUT, as your power increases they will be more evident. There are better places to spend money unless you have big power or are a serious racer looking to take tenths off of your lap times.
EDIT: Not trying to vomit on this thread - ACPT makes high quality products even though their original run of STi driveshafts had some fitment issues, they stood behind them and took care of those with problems. |

If you really want to read the STI threads: Thread 1, Thread 2.
After reading first thread entirely, and second thread half way here's the short version: Car feels more alive, clutch engagement (shifting) is smoother, dyno 1, dyno 2 show about 5-10hp/tq increase (more on the second vehicle which is modded). Some people had issues with vibration, turned out to be a difference in driveshaft components for 04-05 cars; all the issues were worked through with actp and I think everyone ended up happy, one guy that wasn't happy turns out his diff was out of alignment. Here are results on a Z28.

I'm in as long as there's a guinea pig, don't want to spend a ton of money to have NVH.
1: Z4-Villalona (<2000 installed) 2: mfanatic325 (<1500 installed) 3: rabbit69 (tentative) 4: z4mnyc (<1000) 5: beedub (tentative) 6: 7: 8: 9: 10: beta (as long as there's no NVH and < 1200).

Interested to see the lbs savings and how well they back the product.
If you don't get a drive shaft by mid September, you can use mine
