According to Alberto from Slek Designs, the whole car will be 100% carbon fiber. That includes full front end, full rear end, doors, trunk hatch, and roof. They are looking to get around 700-1000lbs off.
No idea on cost yet but that will be released soon. |

awesome. Tc Klein did a carbon coupe, but their weight savings included seats, full exhaust, and some other stuff. Total savings were about 600lbs. Cost of the carbon body is $25k IIRC, so if this can beat the price, some people would probably buy it

That seems optimistic for a street car (without gutting it).
Both doors - 60 lbs Rear fenders - 14 lbs Front fenders - 16 lbs Total - 90 lbs CF saves about 2/3rds of the weight, so all of that is roughly 60 lbs savings. Racing seats is 80-100 lbs savings, wheels are 10-20 lbs, battery is 40 lbs, exhaust is 40 lbs? After all of that we're still only at 260 taking the highest numbers. I don't know how much the trunk or hatch weigh. What else am I missing? I've thought about this a lot because I'd like to lighten up the car as much as possible without losing the creature comforts. I still want to get a CF driveshaft at some point.
