First Track day (w/pics)
Went to Harris Hill Road this past weekend for a BMWCCA HPDE event. was a BLAST. i couldn't stop smiling the entire time. Each time i got on the track I tried to push harder and harder, only 2 spots got me every time I passed. Turn 4 and 8 if anyone knows these. R4GS was kind enough to snap a couple of pics for me and I had my gopro on but something didn't quite work with it. didn't get any track time SUPER mad about that one.
Getting ready to go out for my third time. Getting used to the car now more than the corners. Felt what brake fade means and how soft tires feel after just half and hour on the track. Learned quite a bit from one day out there. can't wait to get my next one in!!! MFest be ready!!!!!! Just trying to get through the first section clean and set up for turn 2-3. Was hard to manage apexes and hills at first, but once i got them down it was a matter of braking!! For anyone who thinks they know what they're doing behind the wheel of a car, take a HPDE and see for yourself! it will change you!!! favorite pic. was probably doing 284 MPH here that's why the background is all blurry. R4GS had a hard time keeping up with me!! j/k! I learned a lot out there. Definintely about myself, as a driver, the car, lines, braking, how to PROPERLY enter a turn, not to let off the gas when hitting an apex (b/c you WILL lose control), and more. I think suspension just moved up my list of mods. haha

so totally spamming this thread. anyway, u can submit any of the in-motion shots for the april potm todd. i must've taken about 50 shots just to have the select few that turned out decently in-focus. the eisenmann sports on the tiag m roadster were significantly more civil than my rpi's, and really didn't sound like it had much bass at all. very characteristic s54 song at higher revs though, with more rasp as compared with stock. honestly, the stock mufflers are almost completely muted on-track.
i was the photographer/spectator and didn't participate this time around, but it's always evident how the attendees are all the happier for the experience |

oh man i forgot to add...
that DINAN 850 (#3) was SICK. Dude was cool as hell too. I was behind him on my second run, would close a bit entering the corner then he'd be gone. lol there was an E36 M3 with a turbo that was pretty quick too. Matt took a few shots of that (didn't you?). He didn't run much, rumor had it his brake fluid was boiling and he couldn't get it down, or something. Great time though.

Track Day
Hey 007mcoupe,
What wheels and tires are you running and how did they hold up? The wheels look great. |

Wish he could've ran with us. he let me drive his car (not track it) to hear the RPi's.... i might have to get some of them. I'll have about a year to save up for all these things I want to do to the car while i'm korea not driving her

^glad u got to and from h2r safely and enjoyed the track event i'm probably not tracking my car again principally because of time and cost considerations, and partially also cos i'd rather run solo but am not qualified to do so. canyon-carving in the hill country out where i'm based is free and so much closer, and just as thrilling if not for the slower speeds and open expanses of scenery. the rpi's will not be everyone's cup of tea, but it dramatically transforms (significantly improves in my opinion) the aural character of the car. not forgetting the gruppem adds another dimension of bass and growl to the engine note
thanks for the photo compliments, am really just starting out and figuring all these photography mechanics. also learning the ropes of tasteful post-processing to really bring out the fervor in each image. |
