How the hell did that happen?!?!
I'm not sure if that ever happened to you guy, but after filling my car up and a 40 min drive to downtown Chicago on the 4th, I got over 26 mpg. How did that happen??
And also a couple days earlier, I crossed 10,000 mile mark. I was kinda sad in the beginning, but whatever. (sorry for the quality, but took the pics while driving)

Are you kidding? If I was driving down hill with the wind behind behind me, drafting off a semi on the freeway, maybe, just maybe I would get 26+ mpg....

26mpg isn't a big deal in the Z4M so I guess that's why it didn't occur to me the OP was referring to the MPG and that the car was getting good gas mileage. I easily get 28~29mpg (real mpg, not according to OBC) when I drive from Seattle to Vancouver, B.C. (about 130 miles) averaging 70mph. The S54 is capable of getting good gas mileage. Like Jeremy Clarkson said, it's not what you drive it's how you drive it.

I dont' think you embarassed yourself. 26+mpg is possible for a short stint. The best average(tank) on the freeway I have gotten is ~24mpg which I am quite happy with. This is BMW's EPA avg. ratings:
Fuel Consumption: City= *15 mpg Highway *22 mpg *EPA-estimated figures are for comparison purposes only. Your actual mileage will vary, depending on speed, driving habits, trip length, and driving conditions; actual mileage may be lower.

I'm going to see if I can reawaken this post from the dead.. So do most of you think it's unreasonable to expect 27mpg on a 700mi road trip cruising at 60mph?
I figure as slow as 60 I'll be able to push 27mpg (and yes yes, i know this car is not designed for excellent mpg, etc, ) |

Very good, thanks for the responses - I'll update with my mileage after I make the trip.
Oh, and anyone else, feel free to throw your 60mph 6th gear highway cruising mileage up. |

Highest I've gone with a mix of highway/city in my 3.0Si is 25mpg. On my trip to BimmerFest, 300 miles I think it is, I got a little over 30mpg.

But nonetheless, getting 27MPG at 60mph is very easy for the Z4M.
