Best sounding Exhaust for Cheap

I was wondering what I could do to make my 06' z4 3.0si coupe sound really good for cheap. I tried doing a back box delete but that got way too loud. Is there another piece i can remove, like maybe a CAT, to open the sound up to the back without making it super loud?

Garage List
  1. Popular ($): resonator delete with aftermarket muffler or swap resonator for muffler and delete rear muffler
  2. Alternative ($$): resonator delete + Y merge into single 3” pipe and add aftermarket 3” muffler
  3. Performance ($$$): Supersprint headers plus stock everything else.
  4. All Performance ($$$$): Supersprint headers plus Alternative setup above.
For the last 2, you’ll need to factor into budget a solution for emissions (software, o2 sims, etc). Mine was a variation of the last one above.

Version 1 (loud and aggressive)

Version 2 (mild and civil)

Thank you so much i appreciate it🙏. For the first option, do you have any recommendations for an after market exhaust?

Do you know how much you paid for your custom exhaust?

I went with the back box delete and a full flow magnaflow muffler. It was a bargain at a custom exhaust shop for $600 but he said if he knew how much work it was going to be he would have charged a$1000.[IMG][/IMG]

OP if deleting the muffler box is considered loud, deleting any of the cats will make it extremely much louder! My custom exhaust n52 3.0si, setup info in the youtube video, this setup is anything but CHEAP

Once you are at 1k $ you may look at a full scorpion exhaust like I did.

Is it just me or does the N52 have a more pleasing exhaust note than the S54?

S54 is a bit too raspy for my taste... but the intake noise is unmatched.

Yeah the dreaded rasp. I agree, must be the ITBs.

I did the backbox delete this weekend and just ran straight pipes back to new tips from the shop and could not be happier with how it turned out. The guy at the shop was very skeptical to do it and then afterword said that "sounds incredible" I love it!

Can you expand a little more on this setup?

I never hear of anyone installing cutout's. I am very new to the BMW scene, so I have no clue if this is even an option or if it's just a silly idea entirely???
Hit the button/switch, cuts out before the backbox. Hit it again, back to stock.
