Powder coated OEM
Wanted to share a few pics of my OEM powder coated wheels.
When I purchased the coupe, the wheels were in less than stellar condition. I could not find a set of aftermarket that 1) I liked 2) I liked and were not crazy expensive. I talked to the local indy and he put me in touch with their powder guy. We discussed pricing and stuff and set the date. They asked me for color and I told them "something that does not show brake dust." Other than that, I gave them full artistic leeway. When they returned, I was pretty stunned for two reasons. 1) The color. Not sure of the name, but they are a subtle mix of blue and gray with some sparkly in it. The picture does not even come close to how the look in real life. 2) Texture. I don't have much experience in powder coat but stuff that I have seen and knew it was PC was typically rough by design. I expected the wheels to be like that too. These are as slick as glass! Like a new paint job and a ton of wax smooth. So much easier to clean. Really happy with the results and the color looks bad ass against the white. I got a few more things I will have PCed in the near term.

I would say those wheels and specifically the finish are different and look good for defined contrast.
The color is interesting and well chosen instead of just black wheels which is more than tired at this point. It appears that it was a good move on your part and well done. |

The shop did a very good job with your wheels. You should be happy with the end result. Merry Christmas. |

Now if you only did something about that front orange wheel well reflector and the red disc out back.
You can cover it with reflective tape, so you still have a reflector. Easy and inexpensive. Or you can buy the European Silver Reflector. Beautiful wheels by the way Last edited by jafxdwg; 01-07-2017 at 07:34 PM.. |
