Anyone Here Competing?

I know plenty of us get our hot laps in but how many of us doing time attack or w2w? If so can you share your experience so far? I'm seriously considering NASA time trial (TT-C) this year and was hoping to get insight from some veteran Z4 racers...

I wouldn't call myself a "racer", but I've been doing TT-D for about 12 years. I have a ball. I've been pretty much all over the country and the experience varies a bit by region/track/group leader.

Very cool, mind sharing how you allocated your points? Also do you ding that Z4 can be competitive against the s2000 and e36 m3?

I did nasa last year HPDE 4 to be able to do TT this year.
This year will be my first time, and I will be doing TT4 with aero and hoosiers.
Based on the laptimes from 2016, I beleive my car is pretty competitive.

oh. im doing TT4 which is a replacement of TTB.
So in other words, TT4 will be pretty much as TT3, power/weight ratio class regardless of the mods and tires.
I am not sure if TTC will be TT5.

Sorry I missed that in your original post!

TTB is gone but they're keeping the letters from TTC down. TTC will use avg hp of 14.5:1 at limit but still go off base class + points system.

that is better for you. TT4 TT3 pretty much goes down to who has more money.
I am not sure I will win in high speed tracks, but im pretty sure in buttonwillow and chuckwalla, i can be competitive. I am actually doing NASA just to win free tires lol.

If you're SUPER competitive, you probably need to race. I'm not that quick in the car but it was the 2009 NASA national TTD champion driven by my son so it's pretty competitive. Obviously, tires/wheels are changed, drivetrain is stock 3.0i, front strut bar, square tire setup, stock suspension, ft camber plates and I think we have a 3 point ding for smg.

You sure your car will still be in TTC?

Yep, few small bits and pieces are coming off but I'll be maxed out in TTC running 255 square NT01, TC Kline D/A, headers, limited slip, and my non-base trim front bumper & lip.

With that said, not sure if I'm super competitive. I know what my lap times are in DE environment but that's totally different from TT or w2w. And end of day, not sure if I'm wiling to take the risk with this car, just love her too much. If I were ever to go w2w I'd probably pick up an e36.

In most regions, there's very little chance of damage in TT other than stone chips in the front. Cars are gridded by lap time and competitors are pretty respectful. IMO, HPDE4 is more gritty. I've got about 15,000 track miles on mine with 0 incidents. The only exception to this would be one region with a whole bunch of crazies and loose supervision. In that case, I switched to HPDE3 for the weekend.

Yea I'm not worried about Time Trial, my comment was more in relation to w2wp
