Smile New layout in NorCal: Thunderhill full 5-mile track

Alright, let's add another configuration to NorCal!

Thunderhill - full 5-mile track: my time - 4.05,21
Z4m roadster, stock, S54, dry, balding hankook v12.
Video -
(although HLT cut it off a few sec early).

This is my first time ever at this track, and only my 6th time at any track, and my tires are not optimal - and far beyond their best days (actually just ordered new tires today). So I'm sure our car can do much, much better times on that track. However, as the new 2-mile section was just built - let's add the full config to the list here :-)

My Z4 Coupe at Circuit Park Zandvoort, no performance mods and standard street tires. Standard pads (melted and worn) on standard discs. Brake performance was bad. The brake pedal was on the bottom which made it hard to blip on downshifts.

Fastest: 2:09.32

Good time considering the section is new and your track experience. (Will look at it when I'm at home.) Friend of mine (RunnerX) ran a 3:59 same car as yours aging Star Specs and GC Coilovers. And he has a lot more track days.

I'd rather run the new section as a single track though. Very different and almost a fast AutoX like experience. Running as a single smaller track would give time to try different lines, etc. That's hard to do with 5 mile laps!

Done, although not sure which tires you're running.

Hey bud, long time! At the time I was using a Mountek CD slot holder. I then bought a cheap spare iPhone case, and mounted the case ONTO the holder using 3M velcro. I just then snap in my phone whenever I go on track and take it off when I'm done.

Since then, I've upgraded to a 6+ and switched to something simpler. Not as study but still stays put during the turns.

Dont have confirmation video and my friend and I shared a borrowed Q Star but last weekend did a 2:01.6 at button willow cw13 with just H&R lowering springs, rogue diablo exhaust, rpi scoops, xp12s all around, Pmu brake fluids, and 7 track day old RS3 from a friend. Car was pushing and understeering badly everywhere camber is set at 1.7fl 1.5fr and 2.6r with toe set at 0f and 1degree in rear. Did a 2:00.9 same setup about a month ago but with super old RC1 that corded after 3rd session. Didn't push as bad though. Any way I can get more oversteer? I can full throttle and then off and then full and can't get the rear to break loose.

Did 2 laps on the Nordschleife. My 3rd and 4th lap ever on that track:

Lap 1, 8:36

Lap 2, 8:38 with traffic in nasty spots

The car is completely stock with 225/45 R17 regular street tyres front and rear.

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti. OK street tyre but no good for the track. But for me its about getting the most out of what you have. When these are worn I'll get something more suitable but if I put semi slicks under my car then the suspension/dampers and brakes would be bottleneck even more so. And where does it end? So I might as well just get Michelin PS2's.

My alignment is -1°.1' front -2°.25' rear with .06' total front toe and .12' total rear toe

Did my first HPDE ever yesterday. Still working on driver mod. But I had a fun time. Below is a video of my fastest full lap (3.06.4). I did have traffic before a bigger straight, which is too bad. Also, on my next lap I was 3.9 seconds ahead about halfway through but they signaled the end of the session. I probably would have been in the high 2:50s had I been able to finish that lap. The track was drying but damp in spots (it had stormed about an hour earlier).

Details
Autobahn Country Club (Joliet, IL) - Full Track - Damp
Roadster, S54 - Stock
BF Goodrich Rival (2013) - 245/40/18, 275/35/18
3:06.4 (10Hz GPS and RaceChrono)

This was my second track day. I rode with a BMW CCA instructor Sunday, 8/23/15, in his Z4M Coupe stock other than 225 square slicks and he ran a 1:48.9.
