I think the color looks great on the M4. But on a car that some people would consider a "hairdresser's car", I don't think the color would look good with the Z4. Maybe if your final Z4 build had an aggressive stance and rims, then it could get away with the color.

I have a Maldives Blue Zed and the colour is amazing. Really shows the lines of the car

I agree! There are a lot of Z4s here in my town lately but most are black or grey. They all look great I'm my opinion (I like all things "Z4") but a different color is refreshing. My car is a bright Montego blue and I've gotten very positive comments on it since I got it. |

He's planning on getting an M bumper and a quad exhaust. With dark rims and an aggressive stance, it should look great.

My hairdresser (female) drives a M-B C230. Or at least she did, until someone hit her and totaled her Benz. Now she drives her old beater Toyota 4Runner. She doesn't particularly like the way my Z4 M looks.

http://www.auto123.com/en/bmw/z4/200...00&artid=90628 "The "si" designation represents the install of BMW's latest I-6: the 3.0-litre N52, featuring a lightweight magnesium block and BMW's latest Valvetronic, variable valve timing technology. Not only is this engine considerably more powerful than the standard Z4 3.0-litre mill, it provides much better mid-range response while improving cornering by lightening the load bore by the front wheels. The N52 generates 255-horsepower @ 6,600-rpm and 220 pound-feet of torque @ just 2,750-rpm. That's 40 horsepower and 35 pounds of torque more than dispensed by the standard 3.0-litre engine; and what a difference it makes. Having driven the less powerful Z4 and been quite content with its gusto, I was absolutely elated burying my foot into the 3.0si. This engine pulls ferociously- especially on the highway where passing power is frankly startling." I can't imagine a girlie car being described that way.

You've gotta be the biggest 3.0si fanboy in the world. Sorta reminds me of how big of an Apple fan I used to be before Apple became huge. The 3.0si is a pretty impressive car. I must admit, when I drop it to 3rd gear to overtake someone, I'm surprised how much pull it has. Now, imagine it with a supercharger and another 100hp. I think the bad rap it gets is not so much from its performance, but the people driving it. I've seen older ladies driving around in Zs. You won't catch them driving a Mustang, Charger or Camaro.

Guilty as charged!!
Now, I appreciate other cars as well and if the stars aligned and I found a Z4M in my garage, that would surely not be a bad day and I confess that I do like the look of the E89 SDrive 35is - I don't track my cars and my wife would want to drive it too, so that car would fit us both. A work buddy of mine has a sweet cheery red 2004 Mustand SVT which looks great. Another guy here has a 2005 911 which I really like. So, my taste in cars is pretty broad. Re the 3.0si, I suppose I'm particularly motivated to defend it as I own one, but I hate to see the merits of any fine car go unrecognized. Cheers!!

While the tone of the color is somewhat close, YMB is a metallic color while this looks very non-metallic.
Regardless, YMB is an awful color for any BMW, particularly the M3/M4. When I order my M4 next year, it's going to have to be Sakhir Orange. White, Black, Silver are way too common, and AY looks like baby diarrhea.

I'm doing a repaint on my black Z4 E85 and i'm thinking of painting it to Yas Marina Blue. Has anybody done it in all this time from creation of this thread? I would like to see some actual pictures. I love the color on the M4 but i'm not to sure how it would look on a Z4. I took mister_rogers photo (i hope he doesn't mind) and photoshoped it to match the color.
It looks good on the picture, but maybe a little bit too girly? Or more like a toy.. But I know pictures are one thing and reality is another. So what do you guys think. Should I do it or not? |

Look at pictures of an E53 X5 4.6is (02-03). If I was going going to repaint a BMW there are two colors I would consider and they are 1) Daytona Violet or 2) Estoril Blue. For a darker hue Daytona Violet is ideal as it has a "moody" look to it. To the eye in natural sunlight it has a rich look. Estoril Blue is one of the best colors from the BMW heydays from the early 2000's to me. |
