The factory nav system of z4 e85 use the CD sound system as same as my setup.(Most of z4 e85 have not nav system in china. And the factory nav system screen was very old and was not attractively bright-colored. By the way ,the new syetem have another small speaker which allow you to chose freely when you want to use vehicle audio for music and want to use speaker for telephone and nav.)

Great! so is this a diy for someone to make a diy?
wha'ts the budget for this project? Seems like the most expensive piece would be the center nav flipping tray i think it was around 400 just the tray. also woudn't you want an ipad mini or wifi capable tablet once you went to that extent.

Cool found the ebay link.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/7Upgraded-Ca...e46349&vxp=mtr 375 shipped not including rear camera or forward camera. Downs side is no Iphone functionality, so you would have to keep a usb library of music and videos to play. It runs windows ce so it's probably highly customizable but no wifi, wonder if that can be added.

I was toying with this idea last year, but could not get confirmation that the unit fits onto the curve of the dash tightly. Can you post a close up picture of the fitment where the housing sits on the dash to confirm a tight fit? thanks.

Looks great. So how do you control it? Touchscreen? Does your radio/MID/CD player still work?

The cap is much bigger than the hole. So you can find your way to do this. Mine is very well fit no seam and no noise when driving even not have to use double faced adhesive tape.

I like the idea Id be up to make a DIY just don't have the funds allotment at the moment. Will continue to learn more about it. Does the forward facing camera show in the screen while driving? Im thinking it could make for nice night vision display with the addition of Infra red head lights.

Still trying to wrap my head around this.
You put the X3 display unit, which I assume has all the brains as well, into an E85 with the standard radio? What if my E85 already has "Top-HiFi" and Nav?

2.I think the standard cd-radio is the brain of the ten speakers. The new dispaly unit will provide pure decoded signal to the brain. When you download ape music (ten time biger the mp3) or blue light source MV or movie it would maximize the "top-hifi" and the ten speaker system to its fullest. 3.The backboard of the radio have a main plug socket A and it connected with plug B (with many wire). Your job is just seperate B from A and put new one E to A and put B to E.(it is particular for bmw and it would be good match ) |

I've been looking for a good setup like this to replace my factory nav system. Do you know if I'd have to replace my stock radio as well? Can I navigate through the menus on the screen with the radio controls (like the stock nav), or is touchscreen only? Thanks!
