E46 M3 getting 327 rwhp, 259 rwtq with an evolve airbox, euro headers, euro cats and alpha-n software (can't link to the thread so you'll have to google "Evolve gains 46.8 wheel horsepower naturally aspirated on an E46 M3 S54").
Let's put these numbers into perspective: this NA kit is putting down the same torque of an ESS Stage 1 supercharger. Math below: Stock S54 has a claimed 269 torque at the crank. Stock dyno for this car has 234 rwtq. Using these numbers we get 87% drive train loss (pretty close to the 15% rule of thumb). ESS VT1-445 has a claimed 305 torque at the crank. 87% of 305 is 265 rwtq. ESSs own dyno shows our math is roughly correct with between 260 and 270 rwtq. So if we do the math the other way around (234 to 279 is 119.23%), we get that the 259 rwtq of the evolve airbox is 308 torque crank. Edit: I modified the dyno below so it would take up less room horizontally.

I'm starting to lean more and more to the "count me in side"...especially since I already have the evolve tune which means a price break for me. So with EMP07, Beta, and RobMCoupe as in...I guess 4 people from the bay area are going to represent with this!
So out of curiosity, what are the chances of passing California smog with this thing installed? |

For those curious, here are my own results on my E46 M3.
E46 M3 6MT . 93 Octane . 4th Gear Evolve CF Airbox . Evolve AlphaN . SS V1 Stepped Headers . SS V1 SPipe . Stock Section 2 . Stock Muffler In the latest run, the dyno fan was not strong enough to push a lot of cold air into the Airbox. So results may be on the conservative side. In addition, my tune is on the much more safe side since it's running a bit less ignition. I plan on going back to the dyno when I can improve my cold air feed to the Airbox and when I can better simulate road speeds on the dyno. I chose not to ask Sal to push the tune too far since I am waiting until I finish up some other projects. At any rate, my car has never felt faster and I have had different header setups all with the Evolve tune. To say that I am safely in the 320whp region is still mind boggling to me. I can't wait for more dyno and tuning time. SAE SAE with Conditions UNCORRECTED

Power is most definitely consistent. I have monitored data both in the scorching summer and the frigid winter, the car performed amazingly well without a hiccup. IATs were very consistent and stable regardless of how hard I drive it or whatever the ambient temps are. Behind the wheel is just a totally different experience. I just posted up my review here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13335735

What a great review flip.
Yours is one of the only builds that has the same goal as me: to enhance the personality of what is already there (in my case, the ultimate roadster). Sometimes it's hard to communicate that for a few of us, it's about the whole experience. The way the car handles, the driving position, the sound, the throttle response, the look... all these small uncountables that as a whole just make you happy to go for a drive. All the pictures you posted are beautiful and I can't wait for evolve to make us an airbox. The attention to detail and the quality of the carbon fiber piece is amazing. It's also hard to find like minded individuals that are willing to go the extra mile to be aware of every detail. Thanks for taking the time to share.

I contacted Evolve Automotive asking when they will do it and they replied "it's one of the M Cars we don't own ourselves. Have to rely on a customer to let us borrow his car to test fit on etc."
Really? No z4m owner wants this? |

I hope they work on it this year. Would love to be able to pick this up in an introductory group buy end of this year/early next year like they did for the e46 guys.

Interestingly I spoke to Evolve today about some map work, and have offered them to have my Z4M for as long as needed to play about with a tune. If that means they can get the development of this box out of that, then that's fine by me. I just need the car back before the end of March, but that's 4-5 weeks of development time for fitting etc.
Speaking with Sal tomorrow, so will mention this then.

haha well the E46 M3 is gone and now there's a new M coming...
I was thinking about supercharging and doing a full N/A build instead...possibly full airbox, cams, headers, alpha N, and custom exhaust or i can keep it supercharged and do the headers and exhaust..decisions |
