Having seen the photos of the OEM engine mounts and visually comparing them with the Vibra Technics mounts, it looks to me that the vertical component (Y axis) of movement in the Vibra Technics mounts remains the same as OEM, but there is lesser movement in the horizontal planes (x and z axes). Surely, this is much the same as suspension components which attempt to limit movement to the one axis, only: i.e. Rear Trailing Arm Bush limiters?

pretty much what phil said on the phone in a previous convo.... the compeition mounts are no-where near solid so its a non issue ;-)
I agree however the fast road ones seem to be the complete win win, no NVH and a better control to things.....

again i wanted the comp ones for my own reasons otherwise id have just gone for the road versions....

I didn't try shifting faster. Just noticed how much smoother it was and the range at which you can now shift. A couple of times, it made it to 2nd gear so smooth that I thought it got denied. The first time, I re-shifted. The second time, I let out the clutch....and WOW!

Just got it install today. I upgraded to motorsport bolts for engine mount bracket too. The driver side is PIA. Took me most of the day going though underneath the car.

Love this mod. Just like others commented here. I tested 1st>2nd after warming up the car. I didn't get any grind at 6k or 7k. You can definitely shift faster 1sr>2nd. I only drove it for about 15 miles but will update if any changes.

Nice to hear rave reviews. You guys running stock tranny mounts?

I would prefer to upgrade all three mounts at once, hopefully they build one for us.

I torqued mine to 42nm (31ftlbs) per the TIS. This seemed about right.

Removing the intake definitely is easier to install the Motorsports bolts. I could only get the bottom two from underneath the car when I put mine in last year. I just now got the top two in. After having the intake off about 3 different times, I can install or remove it in about 10 minutes. One thing I did notice is that it is a lot easier to install the hose clamp on cylinder #6 if you put it on wrapping the opposite way compared to the rest of them.

Glad to hear that your enjoying the new motor mounts. Even after hearing all the rave reviews on M3F, I was still shocked by the difference they made. It took me a few minutes to realize the 1st/2nd shift being easier because it just seemed so natural.

I installed RE transmission mount in the middle of December. Definitely another improvement. I wouldn't wait until the Transmission mounts arrive to put in the motor mounts (if you already have them). I think someone on M3Forum said there might another discount in effect right now through the USA reseller and that there might be another discount when they introduce the Tranny mounts (maybe for both motor and tranny also). I'm sure Beedub will keep us up to date on testing!!

^ I agree about the intake removal method.
With the intake off its a piece of cake to get to the bolts.

I was reluctant to remove it at first, but its actually very straight forward.

I wasn't prepare fir the clamps on the intake. It will definitely make easy access to the top engine mount bracket bolts. I bookmark your DIY for future. Thanks.

Contrary to what TIS says, those intake clamps are not "one time use." At least according to the manufacturer. I've had mine off and replaced 3 different times in the last month, and my clamps are all still in good condition. I know some members think this is wrong and I'm not trying to start a debate.

I'll get some clamps to play with. It is good preparation in case I want to replace my air box.

I use needle nosed pliers and a screwdriver just like in Intgr8r's thread above. I take them off just as in the linked picture. To put them back on, I found it is easier to position the needle nosed pliers like the removal pic. Then I use the screwdriver on top to push the clamp back in place.

Just got mine installed yesterday, great mod for sure. Engine seems more responsive in low gears, like beta said, more linear response when getting on and off the gas.

Turns out my mount on the right side was torn, so putting these in actually decreased the vibrations I was having. Very happy with this mod and it's only been one day. I'll update again after a track day or two and a couple months of driving.

After this group buy ended they changed the price of the mounts. Now they are about $300 for a set which is only $40 more than the gb price. They may also have a distributor in the USA (but I'm not sure).
