Notwithstanding the price difference due to depreciation, he went on to tell me that he had to turn away many folks who wanted an E85/86 but did not want one of the many E89s he could easily get his hands on.

There are a few Caymans in town and I like the style of the car. The new one definitely looks like the Panamera so I expect Jeremy Clarkson will have interesting and entertaining opinions of it on the coming season of Top Gear. Just the same, I expect that In person in full production trim, it should look very nice.

Looks pretty darn good to me.
On that note, it was mid 40s on the drive home at 9 pm tonight. Put the top down, blasted the heat, and had a ball driving 100+. Dear Lord I love this car. |

..was never a fan of the rear styling, especially the red headlights (err... tailights).
The rest of the car is great.

I'm liking this new design a lot. I'm actually tempted by the new Boxster - if you havent seen one in person go look. Its Porsche's best design in years. Plus what no one here has mentioned yet is it is mid-engine. The 981 Boxster has gotten terrific reviews - I'll bet the Cayman with its increased stiffness will be even better.

@Gripster - mid engined?
Nothing new there, it has always been that way. Great reviews, yes; but there are many other reviews on how un-involving it is to drive.

Frankly, I hoped they might have gone more Enzo-ish (deeper, wider, more sculpted) to truly distinguish the line. This looks a bit like they pumped the original full of air and took out the contours.
There's a big difference between the photo in the OP and the photoshop renditions below. Last edited by EenyBear; 12-14-2012 at 07:44 PM.. |

The 981 boxster is very good looking, but both in pictures and in real life. If the pics are representative of the new cayman, the transfer from 981 boxster to 981 cayman, didn't work out so well. If they make a hardtop option for the 981 Boxster, I am also seriously considering it. |

as for the cayman, i think it looks great. it also looks a bit wider and lower. the interior is beautiful, but like stated before, it looks more luxury than purpose/sports car. not a bad thing, but i guess thats whats in demand for daily driven "sports cars" purchased by 50-60 year old people. i bet most of these sold will also be PDK.

I like it and will possibly consider it in a couple of years after it depreciates. Would consider the PDK also, depending on how much and where I planned on driving it.

It's pretty nice. I like the rear end better than the older Cayman.
Still a much bigger fan of my E86 though. Yeah, I'm biased. |
