HJC AR10 II versus Bell M4 Helmet Sizing

I'm planning on doing my first BMWCCA HPDE in August. I just bought (and will be returning) an HJC AR-10 II in XXL but I find it to be uncomfortably tight, especially across my cheeks. I've worn loaner helmets before and I realize they should be snug, but this is uncomfortably tight. I think it's mainly the width of the helmet that is the problem. Does anybody with a big head have experience with the Bell M4? Based on the size charts it seems like I need to go up a size, even though I hear the Bells run a little bigger than the HJCs. I'm trying to decide if a 3XL will be big enough or if I should just go with a 4XL? Unfortunately there's nowhere local that I can go try one on.
