I'm installing a meth kit in my E30, but we are putting in a flow meter as well, as a safety measure. Might be something you want to think about even though you not running a specific tune for your meth. http://www.aemelectronics.com/water-...r-1-4-sae-1184 |

Cool. I caved and ordered the flow meter...yet another gauge I actually like the idea of this gauge and it also has a system readiness light built into it so you dont need that extra warning bulb. So, here is what my plans are for the gauge seen... I removed all gauges from my A pillar and now will have On my leather z ash tray pod an AEM water meth flow meter, fuel psi, egt, and wil install the very cool...stealth rear view mirror AEM boost and wide band.

Do you have navigation on your car?
I just ask because I know a company that build a square digital display with 6 or 8 gauges that fit in the display housing of the nav, I have being thinking in remove my nav and using the housing of the screen to accommodate the gauges display, I know that would be easier to people that don't have nav to add the housing there but remove the navi screen from the housing and place this gauges instead. it should be a way cleaner instal plus would pop up when you start the car. I will post pictures later Last edited by Diokaef; 02-22-2011 at 04:09 PM.. |

I will have the Pioneer navigation with custom facia and the vents will be allocated in each side of the display. will look kind like this one (View link) but the facia will be in the oem format of our dash http://www.caraudiogiant.co.uk/shop/...prod_1027.html Then I have the nav display to put this http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd219.htm in its place |

glad to see your back! Were you able to pick up the home?
on a side note, theoretically you can run the vt2 pulley w/o the intercooler if your using the w/m on a vt1....you'll void your warranty through ess but this is an option for those who are 1k miles from an authorized installer

you could do that, but I would be cautious. I would want a fail safe that would pull your timing "WAY" back if a water/meth failure occurs. Turbos have it easy because of the very simple boost dump option and timing pull back. The Vt2-500 also uses larger fuel injectors and a different tune, so once you got that covered you would be good to go. I think this water/meth is a great addition to FI not only because of the cooling effects, but also the added protection against a bad batch of gas. If you pumped 87 octane even out of the correct 91 or 93 pump that could be the end of a beautiful S54 motor. Water/meth would be a safety net in this case, as it would keep the effective octane at a safe level. HPF has had a few blown motors because of this very reason...bad gas=kaboom. I'm also considering getting their Knock siren system installed. A few guys have saved their HPF turbo motors with the knock siren because of bad gas. Some food for thought. Cheers
The home sits about 1000 ft above lake Tahoe Thanks for the welcome back

Just a quick update on the AEM water/meth kit. I'm on a trip for work, but when I get home I'm installing the kit and will provide results. I just got an email from a guy with an E46 M3 that did this kit. He said our dynos looked very similar prior to the AEM water/meth, but after he installed the kit... he said the car pulled VERY hard and strong! He hasn't dynoed with the water/meth yet, but he said he could tell a major difference. This is without changing timing or boost. The only thing being done is using the smallest nozzle that comes with the kit and installing about 6" downstream of the intercooler outlet, start spray at 2 psi, and max at around 5 or 6 psi boost, with 50/50 water/meth mix. This is a perfect way to fight off heat soak power loss

fr8tdog at thsi power level i would SERIOUSLY consider uprating your fuel pump.... i bet your getting close to maxing it now..
also how the hell are still on stock brakes with this power....?? time for an upgrade i think ;-)

as soon as i get the water/meth kit installed and SS headers i'll get a dyno to see where i'm really at. i suspect the water/meth will only shine in the hot weather and the water/meth induced hp gains will be less in the winter, as most of the cooling effect is gained in the summer. I dyno last summer in 94 f temps with stock headers, no water/meth, 8psi at 440whp. i'm going to guess with the SS step headers, water/meth and 93 octane that i will dyno 480-500whp...but that is just a guess. i think an upgrade to the fuel pump might not be a bad idea though. as for brakes, i'm looking into the stop tech 4 brake system. i dont track the car, so my brake needs are not a major issue...yet

Those mirror gauges look tempting, especially if you install an on/off switch below the dash. I checked their site and they didn't list the E85/6 Z4 as having a compatible auto-dimming function. I may go this route to get a water temp and oil pressure gauge if they can keep the auto-dimming capability.

I'm back home and have my AEM water/meth kit ready for install. I should have it done in the next day or so and will have dyno numbers. I will try and get pictures of the install and intercooler piping (for you Beedub) I'm going to have a bung welded into the intercooler pipe for extra strength when I go to high boost VT3 don't want any nozzles blown out of the pipe. I also just got off the phone with Supersprint and they said my V2 step headers are being shipped from Italy next week Should have the headers installed around first week of May and will have dyno numbers no headers..no water/meth, dyno #'s water/meth only, and #'s water/meth and headers...93 octane. Cheers

Thanks... pretty excited to see the results. The guy doing the install has extensive experience with turbos, superchargers, nitrous and water/meth and he knows exactly what I'm trying to do. He said, because of the position of my AIT probe, I'm basically keeping timing advanced in hot weather or when I'm running hard with the water/meth. The benefits are major in the summer and so-so in the winter. Results should be interesting
