So I can't get my hands on a BMW car cover right now. Need it for tomorrow night's snow storm. So I either need to get one from amazon and choose 1 day shipping (I have Prime) or go to a local auto shop.

I need to know what car cover will get me through this storm and not cost a ridiculous amount (because I plan to get the BMW oem exterior cover). I want something that won't fly off and will protect the car from a foot or more of snow.

I'd appreciate quick answers so that if I need to order it from amazon I'll have time to get it tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Just go to Walmart and get an extra large, generic cover for like $20.

Something is better than nothing I guess.

Can you call up your BMW dealer and see if they can get it overnight? The OEM one is great and you'll not regret it, I have one for my car and I wouldn't consider anything else.

I called BMW. A few. They all said special order.

Walmart will be my last report.

2007 ///M Coupé  [10.00]
BMW pn: 82110151198
MSRP = $207.00
BMWCCA = $165.60

There is only 1 in the country... Jacksonville, FL

If you need it overnight from BMW, it will cost you an additional fee (dependant on the dealer).

I'm not a BMWCCA member. And overnight from FL will cost a pretty penny. I'd rather find a cheaper solution and then have the OEM cover special ordered for me at the regular price.

Thanks for the heads up though. I appreciate it.

Why even bother??

Snow will NOT hurt your car. Plus, if your car is not perfectly clean, the car cover will move in the wind and rub that dirt into the paint and may scratch it.

On second thought, okay, get one. A foot is a lot of snow. The most vulnerable part of your car will be the convertible top. Get the snow off that as soon as you can.

Cheers!!

I'd be especially concerned about this on covers that don't fit the car just right... I might not be so concerned about it with the OEM one, but with a generic "one size fits all" that's kinda scary...

Thanks for the input. I'll get a quick exterior wash before putting the cover on.

I may be contacting you in the near future about taking it off your hands. When you get a chance, can you PM what price you had in mind and we'll discuss? Thanks a lot.

I wonder if your local dealer would let you put the car in his garage over the weekend?

what are you basing this on? overnight is overnight. cost is based on popular route. it's entirely possible that shipping from the west coast is cheaper than shipping from florida.

Its worth a try. Some guys will do a favor for a 24 case of their favorite beer late on a Friday afternoon, particularly if you are a long standing customer!!!

Ended up getting this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i01

Thanks a lot for your input everyone! I seriously appreciate it. I hope to have moved into a house with a garage by the time next winter comes around.

Excellent!!!

Just remember that if you get a lot of snow on the car's roof, to remove it first opportunity, particularly if its heavy, wet snow.

And speaking of garages, I am going to have quite the story to tell you guys in a few weeks about my experiences in getting one built!

You're right. What really sucks is that I'll be out of state this weekend. So this will be sitting on the car until Sunday afternoon.

I bet the one you ordered from Amazon is much more durable than the OEM cover. I had an OEM cover for my Boxster and it was pretty thin. It lasted a long time and fit perfectly, but wasn't very thick so I doubt it did much for anything, but dust. Also soaked up water pretty bad.

^This is very true. if you really care about keeping perfect paint, never ever cover your car outside unless its completely spotless, your car cover on the inside is grit free and clean, and its tied down meticulously so as not to move. (Pretty much impossible trifecta right there). otherwise, you are doing more damage than good. I offered to cover a friends porsche once that I borrowed, and he instantly killed the idea when I told him it was going to be outside.
