S-Pipe for Z4M
Other than supersprint, does anyone make an s-pipe for the z4m?
I have supersprint x-pipe and powerloop mufflers installed already. I have on order the fabspeed headers and evolve-r tune. My shop is telling me they can fab them for about $400, but I would rather buy a set that are ready to go. The supersprint are too expensive and no one keeps them in stock. Another option, is that I can have the shop gut the existing s-pipe cats and go that route. Any suggestions? |

I'm probably wrong but I think supersprint is your only option unless you want to do a custom S pipe. for reference I would also look up full motor Union I think it's called they did a custom exhaust for a carfrom the headers all the way back. is your intention to go fully catless?

I hope you go for a catted/resonated S-pipe...because otherwise with the headers, you're going to get a RIDICULOUS amount of rasp
Been there, done that. Cool for volume/flow, but not rasp Sold my SuperSprint unresonated S-pipe a while back and put the OE section1 back in to control the God-awful rasp. Last edited by mfanatic325; 11-23-2012 at 02:10 AM.. |

I'm doing headers in the spring & that's my one concern. I don't mind a bit of drone, but I hate rasp.

Use resonators if going uncharted. Like Mfanatic said, rasp is awful w/o.
Aero turbine resinators, or similar, in a custom section S pipe section would work. You might want to try searching E46 M3 forums for other ideas on this (larger base/volume of cars). |

I have CSL headers, I fabricated a custom catless S pipe out of a E46 M3 section 1, OEM X-pipe and OEM mufflers.
It's not really loud, no drone but it's rasp festival. I kinda like it. The only thing with a catless car : it smells!! You can't stay in traffic with windows open. I think I will put OEM S pipe back on the car with my BMS X-pipe. If you want to do a custom S -Pipe with no rasp, you can buy Aero Turbine resonator AR-20 or AR-25. A lot of guys use them on E46 M3. http://www.custom-performance.net/pr...idCategory=253 |

In the same boat. Have CSL headers installed and looking for an S pipe. Picking up the RE X pipe and have RPi's installed. Will DKF's S pipe work for us?

I recall that when I had everything free-flowing, I registered a maximum of 106dB @ the track, blowing by the sound check hut on purpose Quote:
edit: can you view this vid? If so, just listen for the cold startup at the very beginning, and then if you can, skip to the end for a 1st gear redline through a small underpass (at 7:13 to be exact): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10150965087107856 Also, from a huge "Exhaust 'Fest" we had locally, here is a compilation of many different setups. In the following video, my car's recordings can be found at 1:16 (startup + mid-rpm revs), 6:00 (soft pull), and 8:16 (hard pull). http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=Ar78IVHcbRs In both videos linked above, my setups were the same: - JVT/"eBay" headers (a.k.a. SuperSprint v1 knock-offs) - OE section1 - SuperSprint unresonated X-pipe - SuperSprint race muffler cannisters Hope this helps! Last edited by mfanatic325; 11-23-2012 at 10:09 PM.. |

A custom S-pipe with Aero Turbine resonators won't sound raspy, will it? I think that what e46 m3 "rasp pipes" use to eliminate rasp actually

i have a custom fabbed section 1 with some small resonators and it keeps the rasp down quite a bit.
i have the fabspeed headers, RE x-pipe and arqray mufflers. it was 400 for the section 1 pipe if that helps.

I can do this one of two ways, have a whole pipe fabbed, or just cutout the cat and replace it with resonator. Any suggestions? |

to dig up an old thread:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=646775 A diagram to show what it looks like (Daves setup) he now has no cats at all, i believe in the videos in the thread he still has US headers. He now has Euros, the Sound is different and there is still no drone really. Much more rowdy sounding now! |
