Seeking Advice on Pricing of 2008 3.0i

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:

Looking for some guidance in pricing a 2008 3.0i Roadster. Due to inevitable lifestyle changes my wife and I anticipate selling our Z4. It has 15,850 miles. Purchased it new with following options: Bright Red with Beige leather interior, fully automatic beige top, Steptronic automatic trans., power front seats (heated), Xenon headlights and HD radio.(Also have a Californian Car Cover for it.) Car has been garaged and driven only in sunny weather. Has not been in either rain/snow and not exposed to our infamous salted NH highways. No accidents and car is essentially in showroom condition, although I will likely be replacing the original run flat tires with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 4S. Still have original battery but I may replace that, although there have been no issues with it- I'm just getting concerned about the battery's age.

My sense is that a Z4 in this condition would be a good alternative when one considers the price of a new Z4, however I am biased; which is why I'm seeking your guidance- Thanks.

I'd say 15-16.5k is a good price, based off what I see for sale locally. A dealership is selling a manual 15k mile roadster for $15k, yours being red is a plus too imo.

Thanks for your insight. Actually the local BMW dealer offered $18K last year when I took the car there for state inspection. For that price I'd just as soon keep it. Will likely replace original battery this year, although I have had no issues with it, but 11 years it is likely near the end of its service life. Will likely also mount Michelin Pilot SuperSport 4SA tires this Spring.

As the 2019 Z4s have a base price of roughly $50K, I believe a fair price would be low 20s due to both low mileage and condition of vehicle. However, my view is not as objective (or informed) as many of the members of ZPOST, so I appreciate all input.

Z4 coupes command a $4K to $5K premium over roadsters. I just sold a very clean Z4 3.0si Coupe with 55K miles for less than you think your lesser engined roadie is worth. Just sayin'.

Yours has astonishingly low miles and an admirable history. That certainly has value. Have you thought about presenting it to some of the specialists, such as Enthusiast Auto Group? They love cars with that kind of history; I'm less sure about the model and transmission however.

If you really need to sell, take the $18k and run, but I'd really recommend keeping it. As for special value, the 3.0si is the baseline for the fun factor kicking in, and yours being a 3.0i and a roadie (which I personally love but the market values below the coupes) keeps it below your target value despite the super low miles. $15k should be aligned with the general market value.

Thanks guys- appreciate your insight. I'll likely hold on to it for a couple more years. (Inflation may stabilize its current value.)
