F***king LA and all your F***king road debris!!!
I swear to God i've never seen so much SHIT on the roadways of anywhere else i've lived in this country.
118W connector to the 405 South there was a full length tractor-trailer tread across the #1 lane and I hit it a highway speed... Bumper + inserts are thrashed. I was able to pull over and dislodge the front skid plate which had come undone and wedged itself under the car. I had to pull out my pocket knife and physically saw part of my lower bumper off to dislodge it as well. oh, and then there is the radiator leak... Keep in mind this is all that i could see with the car being only a few inches off the ground. Lord knows what the tire did as the rest of the car drove over it. If anyone is familiar with that connector you know there is no place to pull over for 2 miles after you merge onto the 405. After noticing the radiator leak I bolted for the closest BMW dealership. Given the location of the incident it would have been impossible for me to prove to the cops that I had done this on the highway and have them file a report. So I'm sure this will be touted as an "at-fault" claim, so on top of everything else I'll get to pay higher premiums for the next 3 years. Oh yeah then there is the cherry on top where I go to trade-in/sell the car in a few years and take a hit on what its worth... SWEETNESS!! |

Unless you took the tire with you, which didn't happen, that means someone else behind you probably also took a hit from the tire too. So I'm sure you'll be able to make the claim to have the county cover the damage?
Bummer in either case. |

just got off the phone with geico... After talking to a few different people i was able to convince them that it shouldn't be considered an "at-fault" accident. So that's a big relief. At least my rates aren't going to go up.... now all I need to do is cough up 1k for my deductible and factor in a huge general PITA for me and hopefully everything will go as planned and i'll have my car back ASAP.
for now, i'm rocking a white elantra... w00t! |

I have never heard of any deduc under $500... wow. But that 1K deductible kind of hurts.
Glad everything is okay. (I almost ran over/ smashed into a deer carcass this morning... damn Iowa)
