Whistling When Pulling
I've got a bit of a whistling problem that's been around for about a month. My CEL came on the other day with a mixture issue (P0174 and P0171). So I'm assuming my issue is a leak somewhere.
I popped the hood today and noticed a huge crack in some hose (no clue what it is). Not sure what it is, and I just need your guys' help to tell me what it is and if I can simply get the part and replace it (I like doing stuff myself). Could this be the source of my problem? I haven't confirmed that this is where the whistling is coming from as I need to be actually moving the car (just revving doesn't suck in enough air to whistle). -Brandon |

I would start by fixing it. Go to realoem and put your model number to locate the part. Then search the web for the part number. Order it and hopefully it will be at your door in a few days. Or have your local shop order it and you can have it by tomorrow.
I would not drive it with a hose leak Last edited by seank; 05-09-2013 at 10:31 PM.. |

Typically, that boot will dry-rot over time and needs to be replaced. It connects to the throttle body and then to the tube from the air-box with the MAF. I replaced mine a few years ago, and it was falling apart when I pulled it out. I had the same CEL and codes, which haven't come back after replacing that boot. You can get them for around $30 online. It's an easy fix.

Anyways. I went and picked up the part at the local dealer for $35. He quoted $50 or something initially, but he was able to do $35. I'll put it in today or tomorrow. Thanks! -Brandon |
