APEX | On-Car Z4 M Renderings of Our New Wheel Designs
Our latest Group Buy pre-order is currently in action for the two new APEX wheel designs, and we just completed our first set of Z4 M renderings! These on-car renderings are the first to show off a staggered fitment, encoporating medium front and deep rear face profiles. Wheel specifications would be 18x8.5" ET35 front, with 18x9.5" ET22 rears. Enjoy, and tell us what you think

I may have finally been compelled to pull the trigger on a set of Apex wheels. The SM-10 in Anthracite is exactly what I'm looking for.
Are they available in 9.5" wide with a ~30mm offset?

The two offsets available in an 18x9.5" wheel will be ET35 and ET22. The ET22, as shown in the renderings above, is a perfect rear fitment for enthusiast running a staggered setup. - Ryan

Thanks Ryan. I'm going to have to take the camber bolts out and see if there's enough clearance up front, since I'll likely be running either 27/65-18 slicks on these, and retire my stock 9.0" ET30 wheels to run the 265/35/18 street tires sitting in the garage so I won't have to worry about rainy weekends anymore.

Depending on the suspension design, you may need small spacers up front to clear the perch. What suspension are you on, and what type of compound are you looking to run (size and brand)? You mention pulling the camber pins, which suggests you have stock suspension without adjustable plates. If your experience/skill warrants running slicks, it is essential to get the suspension/camber up to the task as well. - Ryan

You are absolutely correct that I won't be able to stuff a squared setup at ET22. Currently I run 2 of the rear wheels up front to square it up, with -3.5º of camber using a combination of camber bolts and camber plate, on Ground Control "Track/School" kit designed for the MZ4 Coupe*. On the same 9.0"/ET30 wheels I run 275/35/R18 Maxxis RC-1 compound. My future plans are a little murky as it stands. Originally I thought I had a bunch of vested shares from a company I worked for a while back that had FINALLY gone IPO. As it turns out, I had forgotten to pay the strike price within a certain period and those shares went right back into the general pool. Sucks to be me. Had I vested and cashed out, I would have gone all out with a set of MCS with remote reservoir on Swift springs. Alas that's not going to happen. So the likely recourse is to wait for the bonus check to clear, and see about pulling a few "industry favors" and see if my contact at KW can get me a set of Club Sport at an industry "friends and family" discount. But that's neither here nor there. Neither option would dictate what tires I run, because those tires are already sitting in my garage. Currently, the options are to run either the same Maxxis RC-1 at 275/35/R18 on the "new" set of tires, and put a set of 265/35/R18 Achilles 123S on the OE wheels (with running 2 rears up front so they remain squared) and use that as the street tire. Or I would just say "screw it" and keep the Maxxis RC-1 as the "street tire" (they're shockingly street friendly. As long as it doesn't rain) on the OE rims, and drop a set of Achilles GS 328 27/65-18 on the Apex SM-10 and cross my fingers that it would work (Achilles approved rim sizes are 10.5"-11.5" on these slicks). * The GC front strut appears to be a set of Koni shock inserts installed and welded into a stock housing. I say appears because I'm not 100% certain but it's got Koni style adjusters and the strut housing appears stock-ish.

Really appreciate the positive feedback sir, and sorry to hear about your misfortune with your company shares . It sounds like you have a good understanding of your options, and it is just a matter of which route you decide to take. Keep in mind that the KW clubsports, although equipped with linear springs, still present inner clearance issues with wide wheels and tires. The lack of inner clearance is a common issue with all BMW chassis and the KW line up. - Ryan

The New 18” Wheel Group Buy has been extended for an additional 24 hours, and we are confident that we can reach the second highest discount tier. There's clearly some misunderstanding on how to pledge, therefore during this extension we are working with interested enthusiasts to make sure their orders are submitted properly. If you have any fitment or product related questions, or need help with completing your pledge, please be sure to contact us. This deal ends Thursday, November 17th at 11:59 PM Pacific. .

Appreciate your interest. We kicked things off with 18" wheels because historically it has been the most popular diameter by a long shot. This gave us the greatest chance of hosting a successful Group Buy pre-order to get things in motion.
We understand that 19" wheels would compliment the 18" line quite well, especially as auto manufactures continue to pump out heavier chassis with larger brakes. We can produce 19" wheels no problem, as long as the community shows enough interest to warrant production. We plan to survey the community a bit further in effort to see if this is feasible in the short term. Stay tuned! - Ryan

We have completed and released all of the on-car rendering at this point, but we can count on a wave of real on-car photo's to surface once all pre-orders are fulfilled and participants get a chance to post up some images

Absolutely love the FL-5. Really looking forward to seeing someone putting them on a Z4M. It's either going to be that one or the ARC8 for me.
