Is my DISA valve bad?
while researching cold engine start idle fluctuation, I learned about issues with DISA valve.
So I took mine out to inspect. Looked ok. no gunks and seals were fine. the pin is not loose so no rattling. But, I can not hardly turn the valve by my hand. I admit that I am not a strong person but using two hands on the valve, i could only move it very little, like 1/6 inch maybe? I felt if I use more force to open it, it would break. So I did not try any further. Is this normal or is the valve seized? I really think it should not require a lot of force to open the valve by hand. My feeling says that I have a bad DISA valve. Can anyone confirm? |

Hey, I'm new here but I think the redesigned DISA valve in the refresh models is motorized and controlled by the DME and not the vacuum. So you shouldn't be able to move it by hand.

There's no motorized DISA that I'm aware of. If you wind up needing to replace it, and don't mind the cost for a very upgraded part, you could go with the DISA Gold from GAS...

And I just found out that there are 2 different DISA valves on my engine?
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...56&hg=11&fg=40 Number 2 and 3 in the diagram. What I checked today is number 2. Is the other DISA valve goes bad as well? |

The flap is not supposed to be turned by hand. |
