Clutch noise
I have a 2003 3.0i with ~68k miles, it's my daily summer driver including stop and go traffic in Chicago.
I've noticed that when the car is in neutral and without the clutch depressed there is a rattle. Not real loud, but definitely noticeable. When I push the clutch in, the noise goes away. I've never noticed this in any of my other recent cars. (RSX type-S and VW GTI) It seems that it has gotten progressively worse over time, though yesterday was the first day I've driven it in almost 6 months so it may be that I don't remember the severity or that the sitting has caused the issue to escalate. I'll be taking the car in this weekend for some work (trans and diff fluids and probably a new valve cover gasket, I've done that one twice myself and still have a slight drip) so I can have them give a quick look, but anything I should be on the lookout for myself? |

My car had the same thing. It was pretty loud. My Z was still under warranty and the dealer swapped out the clutch fly wheel and throw out bearing. Now, it still has a bit of "chatter" that goes away when I press on the clutch, but this bit of "chatter" is apparently normal.
