Red wheels on '07 M coupe
I haven't done anything yet, but I'm kicking around a few ideas, and I'm wanting some opinions. I have an '07 M coupe, silver-gray with the red interior. I'm wanting to do something with the wheels. So far I have narrowed it down to Apex arc8 wheels in black or anthracite or painting my stock wheels.
If I painted my stock wheels, I planned on painting them to match my red interior, and I planned to paint my side-view mirrors to match. Has anyone else done this? Your opinions please? |

Someone posted a monstrosity (sorry, honest opinion) with orange-red wheels and all kinds of weird pinstripes somewhere here recently. I believe it was a roadster, though.
Edit: Yeah, check the photos subforum, it was posted yesterday.

Thanks for the opinions. That's why I'm checking on here first. I have attached the look I'm going for. Obviously it would be a M coupe instead of a M3, and the base color would be silver-gray, but you get the idea.
If the consensus is that it's too radical, I may just get the apex wheels and get the weight savings that come along with them. |

I'll have to think this over, but I'd probably be safer with the anthracite or black wheels from Apex. |

I like that shade of red much more than what was on the M3. I don't know if I'd do it but I think it looks better than the M3. Also, I don't know if it's the lighting but it doesn't look like the M3s wheels and mirrors are the same shade of red. If you do end up doing wheels and side mirrors, be sure they match.
My car had imola side mirrors for a while but without going red wheels or something more drastic, I felt they were just out of place and I went back to black. Sort of the reverse of your issue.

YES! Just like that! Wow that DOES look good. If I do it, I'll just be painting the stock wheels, and also my car is the silver-gray so it's a little darker than yours, but it's still pretty close. Your brakes are aftermarket and has a little bit more of an aggressive look. It works great.

Look into using plasti-dip for painting the wheels. You'll at least be able to go back to stock appearance without much hassle.
Personally I don't see the appeal in crazy colored wheels, but i'm more of a class/traditional appearance type. Its your car, do what makes you happy.

Thanks for all of your input. I think the red wheels and mirrors would look good, but at the same time, I've decided that I want to keep the classic look. I've had my car since it left the factory in '07, and I plan on keeping it until it's a classic so I probably won't do any paint. I'm also afraid that I'll just make the car look like a boy racer car. I think the look I was going for can only be pulled off by the 911 GT3rs or track cars.

Agree with the above. I also have a Silver Gray, (also in Ohio) and also went with the Apex Arc 8 wheels but in Hyper Black. Personally think the red wheels would get old quickly. Was pleasantly surprised that even with the 8.5" and 9.5" (.5" wider) wheels with 245 F 275 R tires (wider wheels and tires) that I still lost about 24 lbs. pounds total.
