Leather Recolor
I was wondering if anyone has any experience/knowledge/suggestions about refurbing the leather in my Z. It has beige leather seats that have some wear on the side bolsters as well as the seats themselves. Actually, its more the driver's seat (duh!) and mostly the lower panel on the seat back that is appearing worn...you can see the darkness of the leather just barely showing through the colour.
Basically, I assume I may need to colour both seats so they are an exact match, but I want to make sure that whatever is done lasts a long time, not just a touch up. Thanks |

when I took delivery of my Z the driver's side bolster had some wear..
you could see a loss of color in the wear marks so I had them recolor the bolster it did a perfect job now all I need to do is put some conditionner on it to make the "cracks" go away so I'd say, do not hesitate, it's worth it!

Check out Gliptone's site. I ordered some of their Scuffmaster product to touch up a couple of small areas, though I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. They manufacture 'Liquid Leather' products that have excellent reviews from people who've restored some very high end leather - on Rolls, Bentleys, Jags, BMWs, etc.
Do some googling on their products, and look at some of the customer before and afters. You'll have a hard time finding a negative review. Gliptone/Liquid Leather The product I ordered was shipped at a reasonable cost, and arrived about a week later - looking forward to trying it out. Good luck with your reconditioning! |

The Gliptone stuff looks interesting. I will look into it further, thanks!
I am wondering about having someone do it for me...just not sure how to shop for such a service and what questions to ask. |

The former owner of my car spilled numerous lattes. Luckily I have black interior, so it only shows in the right light. Been buggin' me though. Meguiar's conditioner doesn't rub it out.
Gliptone sounded like a good idea, but a bottle of cleaner and a bottle or conditioner comes to $14.98 ** with $15.28 shipping **. I know it's chump change, but I have an aversion to paying more for shipping than for the product. |

Not sure where those numbers came from?
Looking at the site I linked, one 250ml bottle each of the cleaner and conditioner comes to 15 GBP, and shipping to Canada/US is 6 GBP. When I purchased, it converted to a little over 30 dollars CDN. |

That was from gliptone.com
Down to $6.95 shipping from autobarn.net $21.93 US overall. Order placed. Thanks for questioning me. I would have written it off. |

I've been fixing car interiors for about 7 years and my advice to you would be to get a professional to do it for you, not only it would be warrantied but it's actually not that expensive vs getting something off the internet and try to do it yourself.
