Haven't seen that car before....
Good lord, who in their right mind would build a TiAg with sepang/aluminum interior????? At least it's only seats and door cards.

Yeah, I guess so....
The Aluminum trim might have been swapped in later. Either way it wouldn't stop me from picking up an otherwise clean car.

Still for sale
Wow, can't believe this post is over a year old. Guy has been regularly putting it on eBay but no one seems to be biting over $20k. I really wish the interior was black, that brown is no bueno on the silver.

Check this thread out, I asked about this car awhile back and some nice forum members linked me to some threads about it. It was owned by a member of this forum, and everything appears to be legit.
If it weren't for the awful color combo I probably would have bought it by now. The white top coupled with the brown leather seats is just, well....not optimal in my opinion. http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1385155 |

It's currently on eBay and I have never seen the bidding get very high. Someone may be laying in wait for the right time to pull the trigger. I keep looking at it myself. |

I do have a question about this car however, and it's in regards to getting it registered. I've just learned recently that ESS kits are NOT OBD2 compliant (which is a huge bummer to me as I've been seriously considering this step for my car). So if you buy this car, how do you get it registered without completely removing the kit prior to having it checked out? As well, how do the owners of an ESS kit on their Z4Ms get around the OBD2 check? Does everybody just uninstall the kit, get it checked out, then put the kit back on the car? That would be an enormous expense if you couldn't do it yourself. Anybody know? Thanks a lot.

OBD2 "compliant" as far as I know is that the readiness sensors read ready at emmision time. My VF SC non M passes smog and I am far past the original kits capabilities

For a US-based tune to be OBD2 compliant, either cats need to be in place, or certain tuning tricks need to be employed to get around the catalyst efficiency test which the ECU periodically runs. Euro-based tunes will not pass OBD2 inspection. This is because the ECU is not programmed run the catalyst efficiency tests that the OBD2 inspection requires. The perk of the Euro-based tune is the ability to run catless (as long as O2 sensors are in place) and not throw a CEL. Rumor has it that Euro-based tunes make more power, but I've not seen any substantiated evidence to verify the rumor. My Cayman and both my Z4M's have Euro tunes. My Cayman is catless; my ESS Z4M has DKF 100 cell cats; my G-Power Z4M has 200 cell HJS cats. None throw a CEL, but none will pass OBD2 compliance checks either.

Looks like the original owner traded it in at the same dealer that is trying to sell it now, so it has been in their inventory for 11 months. My first thought is they like to keep it around their showroom or use it as a fun company car, but the mileage has only gone up 62 miles since it was traded in.
Whoa, when did you get a Cayman? Is that the one you have with you overseas? |

My seats have over 60k miles on them and look better than those seats. I'm guessing it's due to the fact that the previous owner of my car was a 95 lb grandma. Those seats don't really have any wear on them, they just look a bit stretched. Bet you anything the original owner is over 200 lbs.

My one year assignment turned into two years, and I had to get a temporary car. My Z's are all too modified to pass through local customs, and then make a return trip... not to mention it would have cost me $7k to rent a car for the additional 16 months. I went to look at a 996 Turbo since it would be legal to import back into the US, but wasn't satisfied with the condition. Some of the repair bills were 5 figures lol. I saw the 987.2 Cayman S while I was at the dealer, and I've loved every second with it. I should do a comparison to the Z

You should have no issue with emissions if you have a US-based tune and catted headers. I confirmed with my friend that his ESS supercharged Z4M passed OBD2 last year. I'd still call ESS to make sure.
