As stated above you don't reset it because you don't need to do the Inspections any more often. You're just doing an oil change in between:

Instead of:
Inspection 1 -> Oil -> Inspection 2 -> Oil...

You're doing:
Inspection 1 -> Oil -> Oil -> Inspection 2...

If you reset it, you'd end up doing your inspections also at half interval, which is unnecessary and expensive.
